 Sat Yoga Announcements January is Miracle Month!
Film Night: Padre Pio--Miracle Man
 One of the last great saints of our degraded era, the end of Kali Yuga, one of the final lights to appear within the Catholic church, was Padre Pio of Pietrelcina, who left this world in 1968. To begin 2012, the Sat Yoga Institute is honored to screen the inspiring story of his life and holy work, in a beautiful film entitled Padre Pio: Miracle Man.
The film bears that title because this saint did indeed perform many miracles that were attested by numerous credible witnesses. Padre Pio was a true siddha, the possessor of great yogic powers, which he was given because of his purity of heart and devotion to God. There is much to be learned by studying the life and mind of Padre Pio. Sat Yogis will appreciate his inner development and the completeness of his surrender to the Supreme One.
Padre Pio was most famous for bearing the stigmata of Christ, the miraculous wounds that represent the embodiment of the archetype of atonement, which are offered only to great souls within the Christian lineage willing to offer themselves as bearers of the sufferings of the world. Padre Pio felt the same pain as caused by the nails and the sword that pierced the flesh of Jesus on the Cross. He became a living symbol of the truth of God's miraculous power to heal all suffering, a power not limited by the laws of nature or the paradigms of science. One can only surrender in humility to the signs of grace that flowed through the presence and the divinely attuned heart-mind of Padre Pio, a true emissary of God.
 Padre Pio's main enemy was the Catholic church itself, whose hierarchy persecuted him out of envy and egoic rebellion against God. Padre Pio fought the anti-Christ within the church with the weapons of non-violence and meek submission on the overt level, but with the omnipotent power of God to open the hearts of souls to the Great Mystery, he was ultimately vindicated and recognized by the Vatican. Yet even in their turn-around, the church authorities never revoked their initial condemnation of the saintly friar. The split mind of the church has never been more clearly displayed than in the way Padre Pio was treated. In this, too, there is a great lesson for us all. What is without is also within.
For those who wish to investigate Padre Pio's charitra more deeply, we are making available to all students copies of a book entitled Padre Pio--Man of Hope, by Renzo Allegri. The author is a well-respected Italian journalist who was also a consultant for the film. He does a great job of collecting the stories of witnesses and presenting their testimony insightfully.
Padre Pio is a great instructor in saintliness, and whatever time is spent studying his life and his teachings will be highly rewarded. Please join us for this sacred event.

Ecstasy and the Eschaton
Language immanentizes the Eschaton. The hyperdimensionality of the Supreme Real is lost in the flattened intellectualized reflection that discourse forces upon our supramental intuition. To say that the Eschaton is upon us is to recognize that the Real Itself is morphing into the monstrous, invading our imaginaries, seizing up our symbolic defenses, and finally forcing us to face the beyond of language. We are entering that beyond, one way or another: through horror that is unspeakable, sadness that cannot control its tears, or infinite ecstasy that unfolds as the Eschaton embodied as the ultimate paradox that is the Self.
Many people still want to waste time arguing-over how serious a crisis is this really; or, whether any leader can be trusted to guide us through the transition; or, whether the vaunted goal of transcendence of the ego is even more than a mirage; or if renunciation of egoic jouissance is useful, healthy, and a necessary part of a redemptive path; or whether grace will simply descend upon us all one day, no matter if we are meditating and fasting, or drinking beer and watching tv...

The Guru Function
Many say the time of the guru is past. This is true, but it is not something to celebrate, because the guru function is necessary-it must be fulfilled for any society to be sustainable. Because the guru function can no longer be fulfilled in the society at large, the culture is falling into its final death throes. The loss of the guru function is part of the inevitable decline of values and power of the human spirit, a decline that has been prophesied by the same gurus who are now derided as being obstacles, rather than portals, to spiritual renewal.
The fall of the guru as a living presence in high culture is part of the general movement of consciousness into materialism and away from spirituality-indeed it is a part of the loss of high culture as a whole. Religious organizations and lineages have lost credibility not only because the culture has marginalized them, but more importantly because they have failed to live up to their own teachings.
