Meditation Sitting Format Change

July Meditation Policy
In July, we are continuing our ongoing experiment to find the optimal format to enhance the effectiveness of our daily meditation sittings. Our format for this month will be the following: the facilitator will begin with a ten-minute reading of part of an essay or oral teaching of Shunyamurti that is relevant to meditation. There will be no discussion. This is meant to prepare the mind to meditate. A silent meditation period of 50 minutes will follow. Music is optional for part of that time, as per the wish of the facilitator.

We hope this will be a helpful format for you.

Food Forest Planting Video!

Biodynamic Preparation 500On the week of June 7th, when the moon and the constellations came together to bless the Earth with biodynamically charged fertilizing forces for raising trees and crops to their maximum potential, the Sat Yoga Premaculture community visited our rural Ashram to plant our first food forest! Joined by permaculture expert, Itai Hauben, the Sat Yoga team was able to effectively guarantee the young saplings a place in the future Ashram and Premaculture community, using well known permaculture techniques including effective microorganisms (EM), lunar planting cycles, Gaia-friendly erosion control, swale water-management technology, nitrogen-fixing plants and trees, Rudolf Steiner's biodynamic "preparation 500," along with many others.

If you would like to see the documentation of this wonderful and blessed project, filmed by Sat Yogi Guillermo, please click here.

Sat Yoga's July Film Series!

We continue our fundraising film series this month with a selection of profound films to accelerate your evolution in many dimensions of the Real.

The Gerson Miracle July 9: The Gerson Miracle. Discover Dr. Max Gerson's radical vision and method of natural healing. A doctor way ahead of his time, he found a cure for cancer, and was attacked mercilessly for it. He may even have been assassinated. His story should be widely known. The information in this film may even save your life.

The Tibetan Book of the DeadJuly 16: The Tibetan Book of the Dead. Not even Dr. Gerson found a cure for death. Since we all face this destiny, we should understand what we are heading for. This profound description of after-death states of consciousness will be extremely useful when the time comes. The film includes wonderful animation, narration by the great Canadian Buddhist singer/poet/novelist/songwriter Leonard Cohen, and interviews with a number of contemporary spiritual teachers.

King: Man of Peace in a Time of War July 23: A double feature: King--Man of Peace in a Time of War. The life of Martin Luther King is an inspiring story of courage and commitment to higher values in action. King suffered the fate of assassination for his efforts. The second film, Who Killed Martin Luther King? explores the question of who is responsible.

Maybe Logic July 30: Robert Anton Wilson: Maybe Logic. One of the great New Paradigm writers of our time, Wilson reveals in this full length documentary his humorous, unpretentious, and mind-bending attitude toward existence. We will be reading his books in upcoming months, so do not miss this gem!

Premaculture Book Group: The Human Nature of Birds

The Human Nature of Birds
After reading Secrets of the Soil, Hidden Nature, and Rhythms of Vision, we have gained many insights into the consciousness of plants and even of water, but as we develop a more intimate relationship with the animals that populate our land, we feel it essential to delve into, and formally acquaint ourselves with, the highly refined consciousness of birds. Therefore, this month we present The Human Nature of Birds in our Premaculture Book Group to discuss more deeply some profound insights into the divine creatures that we share this world with.

Drawing from six years of independent research, behavioral scientist Theodore Xenophon Barber offers an eloquent and dramatic reassessment of avian behavior, drawing on such outstanding examples as Alex, an African gray parrot that not only talks but also composes meaningful and highly creative sentences; woodpeckers that construct miniature tools in order to forage for insects; and a male robin that feeds and nurtures an injured rival. These and dozens of other carefully documented cases suggest that birds are far more than the insect-driven automatons that the traditional mechanistic paradigm would have us believe. Indeed, these amazing beings possess powers of thought, judgment, emotion, and expression that eerily remind us of ourselves.

If this study interests you, we warmly encourage you to join our ongoing Premaculture course dedicated to the upliftment of humanity and re-creating a deeper and  more wholisitic connection with all of God's creatures, and with our sacred Mother Earth.

This course is open for enrolled students. If you have not completed our Free Orientation Program and wish to join this study group, please call 2288-3294 to begin your enrollment process. Thank you.

Sat Yoga SatsangYou are warmly welcome to join us for our traditional Satsang gatherings. Our Satsangs are for the purpose of meditating in a positive group energy field, for asking questions about one's spiritual path, and exploring the depths of wisdom we have inherited from all the world's great spiritual teachers. Satsangs are followed by healthy refreshments from Radha's Kitchen. Read more....

From Tragic Love to Blissful Love: The Path of Sat Yoga

So life is about love, right? The problem is that, for the ego, love is always tragic. Romantic love is a form of bhakti, devotion. In fact, you could say that every form of suffering is a form of bhakti. Our neurotic suffering is always a result of mis-directed devotion that leads to devastation.

One of the great thinkers of the twentieth century who has explored the unconscious mind of human beings, perhaps more profoundly than anyone in history, is a French theorist named Jacques Lacan. Toward the end of his life, he made a very important pun in French on the word symptom, referring to it as Saint Thom, which in French is pronounced the same as symptome. He was alluding to Saint Thomas Aquinas, the great Catholic philosopher. Lacan implied that every symptom is our attempt at sainthood. Every love object becomes our cross to bear, and the site of our crucifixion.
