THE CROSS IS POWERFUL
The Cross is a symbol seen all over the world. It is also the most recognized symbol in all the
world. It represents Christianity to all who see it. It is also the greatest symbol of love that was
ever shown the world.
Our Lord Jesus Christ died on the cross for our sins. This was the ultimate act of love and
sacrifice of all time. God loves us so much that through his mercy he made a glorious way out of
our sin by sending His own Son Jesus to die for our sins. God put the sins of the whole world on
Jesus and punished him in our place. What a debt of gratitude that I will never be able to repay.
This is the central message for the gospel. That God so loved the world that He sent His only
begotten Son that whosoever would believe in him wouldn't die in their sins, but could inherit
eternal life through faith in Him (John 3:16). 1 Peter 2:24 says Jesus bore our sins in His body,
not in His spirit. He is the eternal and sinless Holy Spirit. Think about how awesome it is next
time you are in the great outdoors.
But talking about the death of Jesus is only half the message. Jesus is also the only man that
came back from the grave. Luke 24:1-7 says Now upon the first day of the week, very early in
the
morning, they came upon the tomb, bringing the spices which they had prepared, and certain
others with them. And they found the stone rolled away from the tomb, And they entered in and
found not the body of their Lord Jesus. And it came to pass, as they were much perplexed
thereabout, behold, two men stood by them in shining garments: And as they were afraid and
bowed down their faces to the earth, they said unto them, Why seek ye the living among the
dead? He is not here but is risen.
But this was not the end but the beginning. The resurrection makes Christianity different than
any
other religion. The resurrection did four things for us:
1) Acts 2: 32-36 says Jesus is Lord and Christ because of the resurrection;
2) Romans 1:1-4 declared Him to be the Son of God with Power;
3) Ephesians 1:19-23 says Jesus is the Head of the Church; and
4) John 11:25 says He is the Resurrection and the Life.
Jesus spoke these words in John 5:24 "verily verily I say to you He that heareth my word and
believeth on Him that sent me hath everlasting life and shall not come into condemnation but is
passed from death unto life.
And lastly,1 Corinthians 15:51-57 states: Behold I show you a mystery We shall not all sleep but
we shall all be changed, In a moment in the twinkling of an eye, at the last trump. For the
trumpet
shall sound and the dead shall be raised incorruptible and we shall be changed and this mortal
shall have put immortality, then shall be brought to pass the saying that is written, Death is
swallowed up in victory. O death where is thy sting? But thanks be to God which giveth us the
victory through our Lord Jesus Christ.
It will truly be a glorious awesome day my brothers when we enter into the Kingdom of God
where we will dwell forever! I look forward to seeing you all there!
