Ten Commandments for Financial Freedom

COMMANDMENT TWO

Keep your mind off the things you don't want

and on the things you do want

You may have heard people-including Christians-say "I always expect the worst, therefore I am never disappointed." Because they expect it, they get it all the time. There are so many dear people who see only the scattered clouds, not the vast expanses of blue sky.

That's directly opposed to what Jesus taught when He said, "I will do whatever you ask in My name" (John 14:13).

Unbelief blocks Jesus from meeting your needs. Remember, He could "not do many wonderful works in Capernaum because of their unbelief." When you yield to fear and doubt, you forego the victory of faith.

Faith is acting in confidence on the Word of God.

Faith is visualizing as an accomplished reality the thing for which you are trusting God.

Faith is the victory that overcomes the world and its distorted thinking.

"For God did not give us a spirit of timidity, but a spirit of power, of love and of self-discipline" (2 Timothy 1:7).

Our tendency to be negative finds its root in sin. And negativism not only dishonors God, it sabotages your own best interests. Concentrating on possible disaster distorts your thinking and paralyzes your will. It prohibits those measures necessary for financial victory.

Keep your mind off the things you don't want and-wherein they are compatible with God's will for you-focused on the things you do want.
