Testimony

My name is Becki Nickels, I have had the privilege of being married to my best friend Troy for 25 years.  We have 3 really wonderful children.  Our oldest Cole is married to Ashley, almost a year, they are both students at Georgia Southern and both work. Next is Casey who is engaged to Danna. Casey will graduate this weekend from UGA and is off to find a job. Then our baby, Calli; she is hardly a baby at 15 and a freshman.

I was raised in a Christian home, a long line of Christian heritage. That alone though does not save and I was shown the way to Christ through Sunday School, VBS, home, and family.  Christ knocked on the door of my heart very young.  I believed and was saved at the tender age of 7.

Along the route of growing up and getting to the point of my life that I am now I have had many trials & temptations, mountains and valleys; everyone of them have led me to a desire to grow closer to God, to shine brightly for him, to be real.

Our daughter Calli was diagnosed last April with cancer, and in all the trials of life, this one has been a challenge to my faith.  When our prayers for her not to have it were not answered the way that we desired, I had to wrestle through it with God.  Gen 32:24&26 says that So Jacob was left alone, and a man wrestled with him till daybreak. Then the man said, "Let me go, for it is daybreak." But Jacob replied, "I will not let you go unless you bless me."

I understand that type of wrestling with God, and yes I cried to him, bless me, bless my child and our family.  And even in the worst portion of the trial, he did in fact bless us.  I think that the primary obstacle in believing God can still do and still does what He says He can do is that we have chosen to believe with our own eyes instead of the Word of God.  Daily I prayed Ps 77:14 that says, "You are the God who performs miracles; you display your power among the peoples". And in fact he does.  I learned through experience and also an in depth study on believing God that sometimes God may prioritize the faith required to continue trusting and believing Him when we don't get the answer that we ask for over the faith required to receive it.

I learned this year that God is never less than He was the day he spoke the world into creation, He can do all that He says that He can do, I can do all things through Christ.  It is not because of some great thing on my part but on the GREATEST, it is because of Him and Him alone, God is God.

In closing I want to share with you that God prepares us, we may not understand what we hear him say to our hearts when he does, but he has a plan.  In November of 2008, God laid Matt 17:20 upon my heart, my mind, my soul.  He replied,"Because you have so little faith.  I tell you the truth, if you have faith as small as a mustard seed, you can say to this mountain 'Move from here to there' and it will move.  Nothing will be impossible for you." So for Christmas I found some frames, printed those words and placed them along with a mustard seed into it.  I gave them to our kids, wife, fiancé and one for Troy & I.  I told them, I am not sure why, but I believe God wants me to give these to you and ask that you pray, believing for the mountain to move.  Little did I know that that Mountain would be Osteosarcoma, a cancer mountain.  Well God has answered and rewarded our belief and trust and today Calli is in remission.

May God continue to show us His glory and give us eyes to see, hearts to believe & mouths to praise Him.

Sincerely,

Becki Nickels
