It has taken me a while to realize that things don't happen on my schedule, they happen on God's schedule. I would get frustrated when I would pray for specific things that I wanted to happen and they didn't. I then began to question the way that I was praying. It had never occurred to me that I wasn't praying for what God wanted in my life, but what I wanted. He might want the same things that I do for myself, but not on my timing. We begin to hold God to the same standards that we have come accustomed to such as fast food and videos on demand, things that are instant. I have discovered that God's timing is perfect although we may not think so at the time. If He doesn't give us something when we pray for it, He has a better plan down the road. Don't look at it as "He's not answering my prayers." You may not be at a place in your life when you need that prayer answered or may be better equipped to handle it later in your life.
Be patient. Pray for what God wants for you, not for what you want for yourself. Be willing to wait because what God has in store for us in His time is so much better than anything we could ever pray for!
