A Limited Life

Matthew 1:24 "Then Joseph, being raised from sleep, did as the angel of the Lord had bidden him."

Bass fishing has been my favorite type of fishing for many years. I learned at a young age from other fishermen to use top water lures like Dalton Specials, Lucky 13's, and Devil's Horses. I hesitated to go to plastic worms, spinner baits, and deep running lures, as people advised me to do. That caused me to limit myself to shallow water in very early morning and late afternoon.
Joseph was engaged to Mary and learned that she was pregnant. He knew he was not the father and planned to break the engagement, but an angel told him that the Holy Spirit conceived the baby, and that he should go ahead and marry her. Joseph obeyed and the rest is history.
Many people were raised in the church, but for some reason, begin to drift away from God as teenagers and young adults. They become disobedient to God and find themselves in deep trouble before they know it. Have you wandered away from God? You are limiting yourself and family to a very dangerous and frustrating life.

Lord, help me not to limit myself by disobeying You. In Jesus' Name. Amen.

TIP FOR THE DAY

If you are a dedicated bass fisherman, you know that if you don't take care of your line, you will lose some big fish. You catch small ones, but the big ones break your line. Let me make a suggestion or two. First, replace your line regularly. When it is stretched, drags on objects, etc. it can develop cracks that weaken it. Second, tie a good knot. That is your weakest point. A popular way is to double your line, run it through the eye, twist the lure three times, thread the bend in the doubled line between the eye and the line, and through the loop that is created. Pull it tight and cut off the long ends. You may already be using it. Last, test your drag and set it so that you can barely pull it out with your hand.

Now go out and catch a good mess and invite me over for supper!

God Bless You,
