Weekly Devotional Bible Verse Ephesians 6:4
Fathers, do not exasperate your children; instead, bring them up in the training and instruction of the Lord.
My daughter Katy is growing up fast. She is at Ole Miss now and having the time of her life. I am so proud of her. She is doing great in school.
She wrote me a letter and in this letter she thanked her Mom and me for a lot of things. She said she knew that her life was going by fast. My wife and I just returned from a visit with Katy. While we were there she took us to see the church that she attends in Taylor Mississippi. She and her roommate found this small Methodist Church one Saturday when they had gone to Taylor to eat at a catfish restaurant. They fell in love with the church and decided to attend services there the next day. Katy loves the Lord. I feel blessed to have been given a gift from God in Katy. She is a long way from Georgia but she knows the Lord and is saved. Katy knows by putting God first, family second and school third, she will be fine. I am so proud of her. Our family loves the Lord so much.
Katy likes to deer hunt and ride four-wheelers. The day Katy killed her first deer was a memorable day. She and I were sitting on a deer stand, which is now called Katy's stand. A doe came out right in front of us. Katy was using a 20 gauge pump with 3 shots. I said, take your time and aim. She was nervous and missed twice. The deer ran into some planted pines. She had one shot left. I told her this is the last chance. She aimed and shot the deer right in the head. I gave her a big hug. That was one of the best days of my life. Katy wrote me a letter and said she would never forget that day. It was one of the most special times we have spent together. Katy said she would always remember the first deer she killed with her Daddy.
