Samar Headshot
NOVEMBER NEWSLETTER
YSDT at LPAC

Greetings,

And welcome to fall, where the shifting light and dropping temperatures invite a change in perspective, an opportunity to see things a little differently. Here at YSDT we are embarking on an exciting new creation process at our hi-tech home within the LaGuardia Performing Arts Center, and creating art in a way we never have before. At this state of the art rehearsal space, equipped with a full media center featuring internet streaming and projection capabilities, we will be collaborating with artists abroad in order to create material for next season's new evening length piece. Exploring the concept of borders and personal freedom in the face physical limits, the dancers of YSDT will be working with composers, musicians and our own choreographer Samar Haddad King in a process that mirrors the lives of many displaced by war and occupation. For the next three months Samar will be living and working in the Middle East and rehearsing with the company via Skype. We will be documenting our rehearsals and sharing it with you online, in a process where  art imitates life and life imitates art.

Cheers to a new season and a new perspective! Read on to find out more about what lies ahead for Yaa Samar! Dance Theatre.
