Yaa Samar! Dance Theatre has been invited to perform as part of a panel discussion celebrating the work of photographer Cynthia MacAdams. Organized and moderated by Liz Abzug, the evening- entitled "The Third Wave of Feminism and Beyond"- will feature poetry by Anne Waldman and a special performance by Yukari Osaka of YSDT.

Arab Artist Feature: Dina Abu Hamdan
Dina Abu Hamdan, a Jordanian cultural consultant, arts manager, director, dancer and choreographer is a woman who wears many hats. As an administrator she is currently the Creative Director at the Children's Museum in Amman, Jordan, and has directed the Lebanon Cultural Centre in Beirut and the Haya Cultural Centre in Amman, Jordan. Dina was awarded a certificate in cultural management from the Kennedy Center in Washington, D.C. As a dancer, Abu Hamdan has been a member of Beirut's Caracalla Dance Theatre since 1994 and as a choreographer she has worked with the Royal Court of Jordan (2009) and with Jordanian singer Amer Khoffashand as part of the International Music Festival in Sarajevo (2005) where they won second place. She is currently the resident choreographer for the National Folkloric Company in Jordan.
Dina Abu Hamdan established the first annual international Dance Festival in Jordan in 2006 which has continued under the name Zakharef in Motion. Over the past four years the festival has featured artists from France, Germany, Belgium, Spain, Lebanon, Italy and the U.S among others, attracting international attention and acclaim. In an effort to introduce an interactive cultural space between local and international artists, the festival is completely free and open to the public and in recent years thousands of audience members have attended the festival workshops and performances.
