| Chris DelPorto
|
A recent
addition to the New York population, Chris hails from Salt Lake City,
Utah. Since receiving his BFA in modern dance from the University of
Utah, Chris has made his way into the New York dance scene through
work with various companies including Pilobolus Dance Theatre, Mary
Seidman and Dancers, Malleable Dance Theatre, danceTactics, and
GoGoVertigoat Dance Collective. This is Chris' first performance with YSDT, and he is elated to be working with such a talented group of artists.

| Sara Genoves-Sylvan
|
Sara studied at the Ailey School for five years, first in the Junior and
Professional Division Fellowship Programs, and is currently completing
her degree from the Ailey/Fordham BFA program. While at the school she
has performed works by Alvin Ailey, Martha
Graham and William Forsythe. She also performed "Memoria" by Alvin
Ailey, with the Alvin AIley American Dance Theater in their 2004 and
2007 City Center seasons. Most recently, in July 2008, she performed
with The Foundry in a new work by Alex Ketley, as part of the
ODC/Local Heroes Festival in San Francisco. She joined YSDT in 2007,
and is excited to be collaborating and performing with the company. Performing: April 1st 8pm, April 5th 2pm,8pm.

| Josiah Guitian
|
Born and raised in Minot, ND, Josiah began dancing in high school. He continued his education at the Ailey/Fordham BFA Program, where he earned a BFA in Dance. Josiah currently dances with Jennifer Muller/ The Works and has been with Yaa Samar! Dance Theater since the beginning.

| Sabrina Jaafar
|
Born in Fort Lauderdale, Fl, Sabrina began her dance training at Ballet Elite, and continued at Dillard Center for the Performing Arts
High School, and is a recent
graduate of the Ailey/ Fordham BFA program in Dance. She has
worked with Buglisi Dance Theater, Hope Boykin Dance, The DanceNow Ensamble!, Foot Prints Dance Company, Broward Ballet, and recently
apprenticed with Pascal Rioult Dance Theater, and is very excited to be working with YSDT.
Performing April 2,3,4th 8pm, April 4th 2pm.

Shayla Vie Jenkins
|

A native of Ewing, NJ, Shayla began her primary dance training at the
Watson Johnson Dance Theatre and the Mercer County Performing Arts
School in New Jersey. In 2004, under the direction of Denise Jefferson
and Ana Marie Forsythe, she graduated with honors from Fordham
University with a BFA in Dance and a minor in English. She has also danced
professionally with Kevin Wynn's The Collection, Nathan Trice/Rituals,
Earl Mosely's Diversity of Dance, and the Francesca Haper project.
Shayla currently dances for the Bill T. Jones/ Arnie Zane Dance Company and Yaa Samar! Dance Theatre,
with whom she is a founding member. She is very grateful for the
experience as she continues to collaborate with YSDT.

| Kristin Osler
|
 From Dayton, Ohio, Kristin studied dance with the South Dayton Dance Theatre. She graduated magna cum laude (with honors in dance and a minor in Visual Arts) from the Aily/Fordham BFA program in New York City. She currently works with Johannes Wieland's New York based company, johannes wieland, and spent five months abroad in Germany dancing with the Staatstheater Kassel Tanztheater under the direction of Mr. Wieland. Kristin has worked with Antony Rizzi and the Miro Dance Theatre and is proud to be a founding member of Yaa Samar! Dance Theatre. She has also worked with choreographers such as Nacho Duato, Helen Pickett and Takehiro Ueyama, and performed works by Alvin Ailey, Martha Graham, Twyla Tharp, and Hans van Manen.

Kathryn Baer Schetlick
|

A wanderer of sorts, Katie hails from Virginia, Texas, Pennsylvania, and New
Jersey. Kathryn graduated Magna Cum Laude with a BFA in dance and a
minor in anthropology from the Ailey/Fordham program. While at the Ailey School, she performed works by Alvin Ailey, Hans Van Manen, and
Martha Graham. Kathryn has also had the pleasure of working with
Peggy Baker, Ron K. Brown, and Helen Pickett. She is currently working
towards her masters in Performance Studies from NYU's Tisch School of
the Arts. A founding member of YSDT, Kathryn is honored to be part of
the company's unique cultivation of understanding. Performing: April 1,2,5th 8pm, April 4th, 2pm.

Join us for a new, mulitdisciplinary evening length work featuring sound design by Mike Berberich, costumes by L.E.S designer Daphne Correll, lighting by Yuriy Nayer and original text by Samar Haddad King. Choreography by King in collaboration with the dancers:
Chris DelPorto, Sara Genoves-Sylvan, Josiah Guitian,
Sabrina Jaafar, Shayla-Vie Jenkins, Kristin Osler and Katie Schetlick. The Store weaves together the stories of six individuals in New York City through one unforseen and shocking event. Told through original viedo, text and movement, King's atheletic, off balance and highly emotive work conveys what lies at the heart of human relationships in this world premiere event.
