PUNCTUATE: Add touches of black, bronze, copper, or rust metals to your space. This little bit of dark metallic color will "punctuate" pale spaces and washed-out décor.
LAYER: Rework your mantle and bookshelves. Add in more items. You might want a lighter look in the spring, but now is the time for more! Layer extra pillows and thick throws on your sofa. Bring out framed family photos of fall/winter seasons past and cover your tabletops and shelves with them.
REPAINT: If you're going to paint anytime soon, make it sooner than later. Holiday decorations will make it too hard to paint in December ... do it now and enjoy great color all season. Repaint your front door a dark or striking color. Think about your holiday decorations and how they will look against your new color.
ROTATE: Bring out your "fall" accents, and we're not just talking fake pumpkins and scarecrows! Try hanging your dark colored art; cover a table with a jewel tone or earth tone tablecloth; replace light-colored candles with deep ones with fall scents.
GIVE YOUR ROOM A HUG: Fall weather means there will be a chill in the air. But don't let it feel chilly inside, too! Make sure you are surrounded by things which make you feel good and which will lift your spirits thru the long winter months ahead. If you haven't undertaken a decorating project you've been putting off, think about getting it underway.
