Here are some of this year's visits:
Cranbrook School

Cranbrook School
In July Oonas hosted 20 pupils from Cranbrook School. 13 students completed their PADI Open Water  and 6 more completed their PADI Advanced Open Water - congratulations to all concerned.

Oonas also hosted several other Dive Clubs this summer such as: Tiger Dive, Blue Line Divers, Sea & Sea Divers, for which we organised special early morning dive trips, night dives, road trips dive in Dahab and end of week celebratory BBQs and parties.

In the next few months we look forward to welcoming Colyton School and Sepia Dive Group.
Ras Mohammed Clean-up Day
Location: Jackfish Alley

2divers clearing fishing line off reef
On the 1st of July 2009 the Ras Mohammed National Park co-ordinated the clean up of Jackfish Alley dive site. Oonas Dive Club participated by sending a boat with a dozen willing divers aboard to take part in the operation. Jackfish Alley is a traditional Bedouin fishing location, so fishing lines were the divers' primary target, along with any other rubbish that they came across.
The purpose of the operation was two-fold. Firstly to clean up the dive site. But secondly, to show the fishermen what they were leaving behind and to educate them of the environmental impact.  Thanks to everyone who got involved.
Hotel Renovations Complete
Reception
Oonas Hotel's renovations to its reception area, and the subsequent changes that this required at Oonas Dive Club have now been completed. The Hotel reception is now  enclosed with glass walls, and is fully air-conditioned. In the Dive Club our wash tank has moved, grown and been split in two so that wetsuits and BCDs can be washed in separate water to your masks, regulators, cameras and computers. A new shower room has been built in our kit room, and new tank rack benches have been installed for the benefit of beach divers and courses taking place at the Dive Centre.

on the rocksSeptember Party Time!

On the 23rd September Oonas Dive Club threw its second party celebrating 20 years of Red Sea Diving. A free buffet was laid on and discounted drinks ran all through the night. We were entertained by local Rock and Blues Band "On the Rocks" who got the party swinging, and everybody up and dancing late into the night.

MugsWhat a mug!
