Supporting Sustainable Forest Monitoring in Ghana |
Astrium GEO-Information Services is partnering with the Forestry Commission of Ghana and the Centre for Remote Sensing and Geographic Information Services at the University of Ghana (CERSGIS) to establish a forest monitoring capability in Ghana.
The agreement between GIZ (the German international cooperation agency) and Astrium GEO-Information Services' German unit, Infoterra GmbH, was signed in December 2011 and the project is intended to be completed within 1.5 years.

Seeking Submeter Success
Pléiades 1, the first of a dual-satellite Earth observation system designed to deliver 50-centimeter color image products, was launched successfully on December 16, 2011, from French Guiana aboard a Russian Soyuz rocket. The 970-kilogram satellite is the result of a decade-long effort by the French space agency (CNES) to develop one of the world's most powerful and sophisticated Earth Observation Systems.
