Mississippi River Flooding Images Captured

Mississippi FloodingSevere weather and torrential rain in April 2011 resulted in extensive flooding through the Mississippi and Ohio River valleys. Since then, the Astrium GEO-Information Services family of satellites has been acquiring imagery over the affected areas. Images detailing the widespread flooding are now available online.

NEW Non-Exclusive Oil Seep Study Offshore Newfoundland and Labrador
Global Seeps and SeismicIn 2010, Astrium GEO-Information Services signed an agreement with Nalcor Energy to produce a new, non-exclusive Global Seeps Study offshore Newfoundland & Labrador. TerraSAR-X IMINT Manual: The Comprehensive Reference Database for Image Analysts

IMINTThe TerraSAR-X Imagery Intelligence Manual (TIM) was created in response to a long-expressed need of users who analyze objects in TerraSAR-X/TanDEM-X imagery for GeoINT/IMINT purposes. TIM is a comprehensive reference database supporting image analysts with experience in analyzing optical data in the detection and recognition of IMINT-relevant objects in high-resolution SAR data.

25 Years of Imagery Over Chernobyl

ChernobylOn April 26, 1986 reactor number 4 at the Chernobyl nuclear power plant in Ukraine exploded, causing one of the worst environmental disasters in history. In the 25 years since, our family of satellites has been observing the site of the disaster and changes in the area. A flipbook, containing this compelling imagery, was created in honor of the 25-year anniversary of this historic event.

From Mapping to Monitoring - How Synthetic Aperture Radar (SAR) Benefits the Oil & Gas Industry

We would like to invite you and your team to join us for an exciting workshop on the technology and applications of TerraSAR-X and TanDEM-X, satellite-based radar information, and how it can best benefit the oil and gas industries.

Topics will include:

--How optical and SAR data can be utilized during different phases of an oil & gas project

--Using SAR for surface movement monitoring, geo-referencing and topo mapping

--The SAR advantage in identifying infrastructure failure, pressure compartments and structural elements

This workshop is ideal for GIS analysts, geologists, or anyone in the oil and gas industry interested in using geospatial information to increase efficiency and productivity.
