SPOT Image Launches New FastTrack Service
Satellite to Desktop in 2 Hours or Less
SPOT Image is pleased to announce our latest offering - a 2-hour delivery service for 1 meter optical imagery from KOMPSAT-2 (K2).  In an industry where 24-hour delivery is considered fast, SPOT Image is revolutionizing the market.

K2 images can go quickly from acquisition to product delivery, thanks to several factors. K2 acquires imagery in an ascending orbit, and passes over the North Pole 10 times daily for data download. The imagery is sent by high speed data transfer to SPOT's production center, who generates the final product and delivers seamlessly to the enterprise.

This unprecedented delivery service will provide near real-time and actionable imagery to aid in situations such as disaster response, intelligence missions, and other time sensitive projects.  For more information on SPOT Image's new FastTrack Service, please email us at sales@spot.com.

The SPOT remote sensing satellite program is poised to add an important new chapter to its 23-year story of successful commercial operations. In 2010, the Spot Image Group will launch the first of two sub-meter imaging satellites, known as Pleiades, marking the program's first foray into the very high-resolution Earth observation market and adding new capabilities to an already robust constellation of existing satellites.

Spot Image International Conference & VIP Tour
Spot Image International Conference LogoLast month Spot Image hosted the 2009 Spot Image International Conference. The conference proved to be a huge success with more than 480 delegates in attendance representing over 56 countries.

The conference began with a Planet Action Day celebrating the 2-year anniversary of the Planet Action initiative. Project teams from all over the world participating in Planet Action presented their projects and illustrated how satellite imagery is being used to study the effects of climate change and to promote action.

Spot Image products and services and the continuity plan for SPOT satellites through 2022 were the main focuses of the overall conference and all were discussed during the second day of events. This was followed by a full day of case study based workshops highlighting many important and interesting imagery applications.

In addition, select attendees were invited to tour the facilities where Pleiades 1 and 2 are currently being tested.

IN FOCUS

SPOT 2 Makes Way for SPOT 6 & 7 Continuity Program

Many exciting changes are happening at Spot Image lately. On June 30, 2009, SPOT 2 began de-orbitting in a controlled manner following the IADC Space Debris Mitigation Guidelines, which will allow the limitation and avoidance of debris in space. SPOT 2 has been actively collecting imagery since January 2, 1990. Orbiting the earth for fourteen years longer than its original projected lifecycle of five years, SPOT 2 displays the engineering expertise and quality built into the SPOT satellite constellation. In its lifetime, it has orbited the earth over 100,000 times and collected over 23 million square kilometers of imagery.

The workhorses of the SPOT constellation, SPOT 4 and SPOT 5 continue to actively collect data for both governments and the private sector. As part of the SPOT Continuity Program, SPOT 6 and SPOT 7 are currently under development to extend the SPOT constellation service through at least 2022. The program and funding were confirmed in a statement by Astrium Services CEO, Eric Beranger, at the Paris Air Show on June 18. SPOT 6 and 7 are scheduled to launch in 2012 and 2014 respectively. Both satellites will offer 2-meter resolution data in a 60-kilometer by 60-kilometer swath, and improved agility with twice the design life of previous SPOT satellites.
