Greetings!

March is a wonderful month.  Spring is about to bloom, winter begins to fade, and moods pick up as the days lengthen.  March is also Women's History Month.  In honor of that, here's a little quiz.  Do you know the name of the first female national candidate for President of the United States?

How many of you said Shirley Chisolm?  Hillary Clinton?  The first female national candidate was Victoria Woodhull in 1872 (before women were given the right to vote) running for the National Radical Reformers.  Ms Woodhull was quite the firecracker for her time.  Two of my favorite quotes are: "If women would today would rise en masse and demand their emancipation, the men would be compelled to grant it," and "Men will always respect women when they compel it, by their actions."

As we celebrate Women's History Month, take some time to share with your daughters and sons how far women have come and how much more we still need to accomplish.  Every individual has the potential to make a positive impact on society, even if it's just in their own circle of influence.

As women we are stronger than we allow ourselves to believe.  Remember, empowerment comes thru education.

WSDI's Stimulus Plan
The economy's been taking a wild ride the last 6 months with most of us feeling the brunt of it.  We watch as billions and trillions of dollars are being handed out in "stimulus packages" and "TARP plans", and any other acronym you can think of.

Bottom line - most families will not see much assistance and we can expect at least another two years of turmoil before any "balance" is reached.

So what is the Women's Self-Defense Institute's stimulus plan? It is a cashback plan to you, our loyal readers, and a mechanism to raise funds (without you needing to spend more) for women's advocacy groups.  Bottom line - it is a win-win for everyone - with your dollar earning you more and supporting women's charities without costing you more money.

We have partnered with Krymus Fundraising which has agreements with over 300 online vendors from 1-800 Flowers to iTunes to Target to Wal-Mart to Zales.

The WSDI Stimulus Plan is a rebate (between 1%-10% of the purchase price) that you earn for making purchases through your personal shopping site. It is in addition to and seperate from all other discounts and coupons.

To get Cash Back, follow these steps:
1. Either Login or go directly to your Personal Shopping Site.
2. Find a merchant you would like to shop with and click the link. (Note: This is VERY important. You MUST always get to the merchant through Women's Self-Defense Institute. If you use any other method to get to the merchant like Google, type it in, Favorite Places, etc, we will NOT be able to track it and give you cash back, so before you buy anything always go through Women's Self-Defense Institute!)
3. Shop on the website like you normally would.
4. A Cash Back rebate will show up in your account when the merchant reports the sale to us (usually 2-3 days).

Why are we giving you money?
We are sharing a portion of what we earn with you! When you visit Women's Self-Defense Institute and click on a link to a merchant and then order something, the merchant pays us a commission on the sale for sending them a customer. Everyone Wins! The retailer sells more, you earn Free Money (Cash Back), and we are able to help fund various women's support charities without asking you to spend more money!

Happy Stimulus!

Powers of the Sixth Sense by Jock Brocas
Powers of the Sixth SenseOne of the first rules of self-defense is awareness.  Without it, you are playing russian roulette with your safety.   For women, awareness comes by trusting our intuition (or sixth sense) - Mother Nature's last built in early warning survival tool.

Mr. Brocas takes you on an interesting journey through the self-discovery of the powers of your own Sixth Sense.  By the simple act of learning to be aware and "plugged in" to your surroundings, you are capable of honing your sixth sense to warn you of early danger signals; thereby potentially saving your life.

Self-defense is not complicated.  It is 90% awareness and 10% physical.  By utilizing all the awareness and risk control/avoidance tools available to you, you greatly reduce your chances of being targeted as a victim.

The Powers of the Sixth Sense is an excellent read with real life examples and solutions.  If you're looking for a good safety book that encourages positive solutions and not fear mongering, than the Powers of the Sixth Sense is for you.
