Meditation tip - keeping your balance
with informal meditations
spot meditation

Do you find at certain times of day the negative thoughts start to crowd in, jostling for attention, tramping their way through your mind? You might be tired, it's the end of the day, or maybe you're working late or struggling with the kids. Often you can't stop to meditate, but you can use an informal meditation to get through:

  1. Find one thing to do, maybe it's washing the dishes, maybe it's having a glass of water, or cleaning up-something that takes a couple of minutes.
  2. Slow each movement just very slightly.
  3. Gently practise keeping your mind with each movement.
  4. Feel the contact through your hands, feel your breathing, open to whatever senses are active. Start to become interested in what's happening right now. Use this to bypass the negative thoughts. Notice what happens...

Find some balance on a Lifeflow retreat

Lifeflow retreat

Being and Doing - striking the balance
- 28-30 Oct
ONLY TWO PLACES LEFT

How do we achieve a healthy balance between the busyness of our outer lives, and our often neglected but equally important inner lives? Both are integral to our ability to live happily. This retreat will focus on the roles the inner and outer worlds play in our lives, and how we can acknowledge and develop both to find harmony between the two. When both are in balance we can open fully to the richness of life... read more

Plus, our final retreat for 2011:
Riding the Surfboard of Life - 11-13 Nov

What happens on a Lifeflow retreat?

Retreats are wonderful opportunity to get some space for yourself, and get some perspective on what's been happening in your life. Enjoy a break from normal pressures, relax deeply, and return home with your outlook refreshed. In all retreats you will learn a range short 'spot' and longer meditations, and be guided through deep relaxations and gentle yoga. The food is wonderful too!

Graham WilliamsWhat is love? When we talk about 'love' we are often thinking of special people, pets, places, even foods (ice cream!) in our lives that we are particularly fond of. Within the meditation tradition, the essence of love is being open to everything; being receptive to everything in yourself and the world.

'...love is actually a decision - not just a feeling. It is something you can practice, and so you can learn to sustain a state of love...'
