Refresh and Restore - Wednesday evenings

Take some time to rejuvenate
Retreats are wonderful opportunity to get some space for yourself, and get some perspective on what's been happening in your life. Enjoy a break from normal pressures, relax deeply, and return home with your outlook refreshed. In all retreats you will learn a range short 'spot' and longer meditations, and be guided through deep relaxations and gentle yoga. The food is wonderful too!

Cutting through appearances
This meditation allows you to tap a fiery quality of direct awareness - learning not to be fooled or dulled into believing appearances, or that situations are unchangeable. Sometimes in life you need to tap the power of your gut, instinctual energies to cut through and see clearly. This meditation is for training yourself to do this skilfully.
 
Everyone is welcome to stay for a share lunch after the meditation session. Please call Lifeflow if you would like any further information.

Meditation tip - doing just one thing

A few newsletters ago we featured an article on multitasking, showing research that it doesn't actually help you to get more done. It's actually worse than that-multitasking actually makes you less efficient at what you are doing. Here's more on the topic

Our 4-step meditation technique is a simple way to get you to focus on just one thing. Here's the technique:
1. Relax your body
2. Calm your mind by focusing on one thing
3. If thoughts come in, just notice them
4. Gently let go of the thoughts, return to the exercise
(You can read more in our text Life in Balance)

One of our students recently pointed out in class that you can apply this to tasks at work too:
1. Prepare for the task (relax the body)
2. Focus on the task (focus on meditation object)
3. Other tasks arise (thoughts arise)
4. Ignore, or make a "to do" note, and return to current task (let go of thoughts and return to object)

Simple, but effective.
