Health and Well-being - 13-15 Aug Only a few places left on this retreat
Is health just a physical concern or does the mind play into it as well? Our Western medical approach has focused on treating health at a physical level. In contrast, the Eastern meditation traditions have always seen that the health of the mind is integral to the health of our body. During this weekend we will explore, through practical exercises, balancing the physical, emotional and mental aspects of our life, and look at how balance is integral to maintaining our health. Other retreats coming up Music as Meditation - 10-12 Sep - Only a few places left on this retreatJoy of Being - 15-17 Oct Riding the Surfboard of Life - 12-14 Nov Take some time to rejuvenate
Retreats are wonderful opportunity to get some space for yourself, and get some perspective on what's been happening in your life. Enjoy a break from normal pressures, relax deeply, and return home with your outlook refreshed. In all retreats you will learn a range short 'spot' and longer meditations, and be guided through deep relaxations and gentle yoga. The food is wonderful too! | Special Event - Coady Green piano recital |
Brilliant, young, London-based concert pianist Coady Green is returning to Adelaide to perform for Lifeflow. A former piano student of Graham Williams, Coady has won many competitions and awards, and performed in concert tours in Australia, Europe and Africa. While in Europe he has received accolades from the critics: "Amazing, stunning and phenomenal - one of the rare pianists whose absolutely top virtuosity is so effortless it is hardly perceptible. A pianistic storyteller." An exhilarating exponent of the romantic repertoire, Coady's debut performance at the Adelaide Town Hall in 2009 thrilled a packed house-a performance of 'pure Tantra!'. Coady's return recital is an event not to be missed! Full details are on our website too. Join us after the recital for eats, drinks and special guest appearances. Sunday 29 August at 3.30pm. Members $10 Non-members $20/$15conc Venue TBA - if our new City Studio is ready then we will be having it there, otherwise at our current 447 Morphett St address |

Members seminar at Tara Hills Emotions and instincts - exploring the fear response and what meditation offersFear... one of the driving forces of our life; often it has kicked in well before we even notice it, driving many emotions, such as worry and anger. In this seminar we'll explore what has been uncovered about fear in the world of neuroscience, and then link it back to principles and techniques taught at Lifeflow. Everyone is welcome to stay for a share lunch after the seminar. Please call Lifeflow if you would like any further information. Sunday 22 August 11 am - 12.30 pm Tara Hills Retreat Centre Members retreat at Kurlana - October long weekend Stages of the Path, part 2At the two Kurlana retreats this year (Easter and the October long weekend), we are investigating a particularly useful system for understanding what is likely to unfold as your meditation deepens. This system comes from the tradition of Tantra, and outlines the different levels and stages experienced along the whole path of meditation; from developing the skill of meditative concentration, through to a stage of "no more meditation". This retreat will provide you with a valuable framework to help you better understand your own meditation experiences, and to further develop your practice. Retreat starts with lunch at 1 pm on Saturday 2 October Retreat finishes after lunch on Monday 4 October Also see our general info page about Kurlana members' retreats. Tantra Meditation at Tara Hills Cutting through appearancesThis meditation allows you to tap a fiery quality of direct awareness - learning not to be fooled or dulled into believing appearances, or that situations are unchangeable. Sometimes in life you need to tap the power of your gut, instinctual energies to cut through and see clearly. This meditation is for training yourself to do this skilfully. Everyone is welcome to stay for a share lunch after the meditation session. Please call Lifeflow if you would like any further information. Sunday 21 November 11 am - 12.30 pm Tara Hills Retreat Centre

| New City Studio update |
Two rules of building projects: 1) they take longer than expected and 2) they cost more than expected. This one is actually running pretty much on time (thanks to long hours put in by John Adam Architect, Lisa Hancock and an army of others). Before you think those pigs might fly, this project is running over the original budget estimate. Thanks to all of those members who have donated generously to help cover unforseen costs. More good news: it's looking stunning! If enough is finished, we'll be having our Coady Green concert recital in the new venue. See some more building project pix on our website. |
| Have your say, or show your pix too. . . |
| If you come across a great web article, story, or meditation inspired photo that you think would be of interest to others at Lifeflow, then send it in and if it is suitable we'll put in an upcoming Life Movements email newsletter. | |

Crystal an image of balance |
|
The painting Crystal by Garry Duncan is a wonderful Australian version of a classic Tibetan visualisation. A dawn scene on the River Murray, Crystal is an unusually balanced composition. As a meditation visualisation it symbolises the mind and body in a completely balanced state - that deeply relaxed, calm and alert state which you reach through meditation. $75 at Lifeflow Each print personally signed by the artist.
