Winter warmth at LifeflowBrush off the winter chill with these Lifeflow courses and sessions:

Learn to Meditate - Winter course
We've compressed our 7-week course into just 6-weeks, turned up the heat, and called it our Winter course. If you or a friend wants to get started with meditation, here is a great opportunity.
Six Tuesdays from 23 June, 6-7.30 pm

Refresh and Restore - every Wednesday
Feeling like a pep up by mid week? Then head into the Lifeflow City Studio for Refresh and Restore - let yourself relax into some deep meditations, restore some zing and come out feeling like new.
Wednesdays 6-7 pm, $15/$10 per session

Lifeflow Meditation Guide training
Have your found great benefit from Lifeflow meditation? Now you can learn how to guide family and friends through meditations, or to use meditation as an adjunct to your work.  This course is particularly useful for medical and allied health professionals, social workers and teachers.
Six Saturdays 9.30-12.30 from 15 August.

I thoroughly enjoyed this course - my passion for meditation and sharing it with others has been reaffirmed and cemented.

Two things you need to know . .
Book for Term 3 before 1 July and avoid any price rises
For the first time in over three years we are having to put up our fees for our city courses (Levels 1 to 4). But, if you book for your term 3 courses before 1 July, you can still pay on the old rates. You can book in by calling us on 8353 0000 or book online.

New Level 3 course starting in Term 3
We'll be adding a second Level 3 course from Term 3 onwards. It will be on Tuesdays at 5.45 pm, and will be lead by John Burston. The course will cover the same material as the Thursday classes, so you can swap classes from week to week if you need to.

Winter meditation - water drop
Three meditation tips for winter. . .
Practise some informal meditations through the winter, and as a bonus look after your health too. Some tips:
  • Hello sunshine: if you can, get some time outdoors, take a walk at the beach or in the hills, even try a bike ride - anything that will get you moving outdoors. Exposure to sunshine has a significant effect in boosting feelings of wellbeing in winter time.
  • Cool moments: take a moment to notice the feeling of the cool air on your skin - often we try to avoid any feeling of cold, but instead use it as a meditation
  • Breathe fresh: rug up and try a short breathing meditation outside - breathe in the freshness of the cool air, listen for the bird calls, notice how your senses come alive when you are outside.

News from the world. . .
Are you cooking tonight?
You may be overheating at night if you are sleeping under a doona - this can lead to various sleep and skin related problems.

The power of less
Sometimes having less things happening can be much better for getting things done, or for keeping your mind clear. Here's a short mp3 from

Keep taking the placebos - just as effective as antidepressants
When Professor Irving Kirsch and colleagues got hold of the unpublished data from drug company trials of antidepressants, it hit the headlines. But their analysis - that antidepressants and placebo pills have about the same clinical impact - was widely misreported. Hear it from the horse's mouth, from the stage of the 2009 Happiness and Its Causes Conference.

Term three is not far away. . .
Footprints in sandOur next Level 2 course is Mindfulness-moment to moment: There is a lot more going on in our lives than what we think is happening! The principles of mindfulness meditation can be a powerful tool to untangle confusion in your life - end result - you feel better! Come and enjoy the deep meditations too. Find out more.
