| "If you love someone. . . set them free" |
Sting was really onto something here! How about pointing someone in the direction of meditation? Meditation can open your life to more joy and spontaneity, and can help you free yourself from being caught in cages of thought - even when you wake up in the middle of the night. Send a friend, or come along yourself to our free talk next Wednesday.

| Dreams are made of this. . . |
| Recently ABC Radio National's All in the Mind produced a couple of programs covering dreams. We've included summaries and links to them here as they relate to material we teach at Lifeflow and may be of interest to anyone practising meditation.
Dreams: the body alive! http://www.abc.net.au/rn/allinthemind/stories/2009/2501221.htm This program focuses on an interview with Jungian dream analyst, Robert Bosnak, who views a dream as an "...ecosystem of imaginings and powerful bodily experiences...". Bosnak makes two key points that reinforce what we teach at Lifeflow: don't get lost in stories and re-incorporating the energy body. Bosnak encourages clients to get back to the basic bodily sensation linked with a remembered dream, rather than getting caught up in interpretations. We take the same approach with meditation experiences - encouraging students to stay with the actual physical experience of what is happening. It is very easy to get lost in analysis and stories, and miss the actual feeling of what is going on. Bosnak has found that people's interpretations of dreams are strongly affected by their cultural belief systems - an insight that came from working with both Eastern and Western clients. In the Level 3 Insight modules we introduce meditation principles which explain why this happens. Another interesting link to what we teach at Lifeflow was a comment from French philosopher Henry Corbin, who noted that in our culture we originally had three realms of reality: physical, mental and also a realm of imagination. In about 700, 800 years ago, 'that realm of the imagination as reality dropped out and it became just mind and matter'. Anyone who has been around Lifeflow courses for a while may recognise the earlier view as similar to our Three Bodies model taught in courses and retreats. (This model will be covered in some detail in this term's Level 2 course). Dreams: the stuff memories are made of? http://www.abc.net.au/rn/allinthemind/stories/2009/2506080.htm One theory of dreaming is that it forms part of the process of laying down long term memories. It's a hotly debated issue - read and make up your own mind.
Don't just dream about it, do it! If you want to get some practice at working with the energy body (or realm of 'imagination'), then book yourself into our 7-day July retreat, Joy of Being. As the retreat runs for a whole week, it gives time for deeper inner experiences to open up, and also for participants to become much more aware of their dream experiences. During the retreat there will be opportunities to explore these experiences and see how they relate to what is happening during meditation, and what is going on in everyday life. |
| Have your say, or show your pix too. . . |
If you come across a great web article, story, or meditation inspired photo that you think would be of interest to others at Lifeflow, then send it in and if it is suitable we'll put in an upcoming Email Update.
