for Angel Dog Walk, 'Howl-o-ween'

Happy Halloween

Don't miss two big events that are guaranteed to make you howl!

Angel Dog Walk

The first is Saturday, Oct. 8 when PAWS visits Centerville, Ohio, for the city's annual Angel Dog Walk, scheduled from 9 to 11 a.m.  Angel Dog Walk is an official Pet Memorial Day for the residents and businesses of Centerville who lost many beloved pets as well as their homes and belongings when Hurricane Ike tore through the city in 2008. Event happenings include a Memorial Balloon Release, Blessing of the Animals, dog costume contest, raffles and much more, including $15 microchipping by PAWS staff for pet owners who want this benefit for their animals.

There is no cost to participate as a walker in the Angel Dog Walk -- with or without a dog. If you would like to purchase an Angel Dog Promo Pack "bag of goodies," there is a $25 fee -- but you do not have to buy the Promo Pack.

Angel Wings Promo Pack includes an Angel Dog Back Pack, Angel Dog T-shirt or hat, five raffle tickets, puppy treats and gifts, and discount coupon on other Angel Dog Walk items.  Angel Wings Promo Packs are available until supplies last and ordering ends Friday, Sept. 23.

To reserve your Angel Wings Promo Pack, make checks or money orders payable to Rhonda Pingleton and mail to 1063 Viewpoint Drive, Centerville, OH 45459.   Please include your contact information and preference for a T-shirt (include size) or hat.  If you prefer paying by PayPal, then email AngelDogWalk@yahoo.com and include your order requests.  You will be sent the Angel Dog PayPal link.

"All PAWS' friends - volunteers, staff, foster families and those who have adopted PAWS animals - are encouraged to bring a dog to this heart-warming event," said Ginger Shawver, PAWS executive director. "People can walk the whole walk, just a portion of the walk, enter the costume contest or just participate in the blessing of the animals.  It's a celebration of canine love - their love for us and our love for them," Shawver said.

Howl-o-ween at VOA Metroparks

Another not-to-miss event is the 2nd annual Howl-o-ween Costumed Dog Parade this year on Sunday, Oct. 9 from 1 to 4 p.m. at the Voice of America, 7850 VOA Park Drive, West Chester, Ohio.   Hosted by MetroParks and the Friends of Wiggly Field, the event allows $5 registration if you pre-register and $10 registration on the day of the event from 1 to 2 p.m.. The parade and prizes are from 2 to 4 p.m. Admission for those who do not wish to participate with an animal is free.  There is a parking fee of $3.

Pre-registration for animals in the parade can be completed online at the Community Foundation of West Chester/Liberty at www.wclfoundation.com or by going to MetroParks' website and downloading a registration form under "Events" at www.yourmetroparks.net.

This year, there will be a parade but no announcing to avoid participants with two and four legs from having to wait in line so long... also, vendors will be there with goodies for dogs and people along with adoption/rescue organizations and demonstrations by the Ohio State Highway Patrol K-9 unit.
