A father was approached by his small son who told him proudly,
"I know what the Bible means!"
His father smiled and replied, "What do you mean, you 'know' what the Bible means?
The son replied, "I do know!"
"Okay," said his father. "What does the Bible mean?
"That's easy, Daddy..." the young boy replied excitedly,
"It stands for 'Basic Information Before Leaving Earth.'

There was a very gracious lady who was mailing an old family Bible to her brother in another part of the country. "Is there anything breakable in here?" asked the postal clerk. "Only the Ten Commandments. " answered the lady.
~~~~~
"Somebody has said there are only two kinds of people in the world. There are those who wake up in the morning and say, "Good morning, Lord ," And there are those who wake up in the morning and say, "Good Lord, it's morning."
Where Did All the Heroes Go?
By Dr. James Roy Pence
2 And Saul and the men of Israel were gathered together, and pitched by the valley of Elah, and set the battle in array against the Philistines. 3 And the Philistines stood on a mountain on the one side, and Israel stood on a mountain on the other side: and there was a valley between them. 4 And there went out a champion out of the camp of the Philistines, named Goliath, of Gath, whose height was six cubits and a span. -I Samuel 17:2-4
I feel that we are living in the most dangerous period in church history. In many, there seems to be something missing. Instead of heroes in the church, some look to the champions of the world. Whether in fear or admiration, these so-called champions have captured the attention of the Church. First, what does the word hero mean? It can be a person admired for his or her achievements and qualities. It can also be the chief character in a literary or dramatic work; it means to be impavid, intrepid, exemplar, and paladin. The danger of looking to the world for heroes is we usually mimic those we look up to for guidance. One of the greatest heroes of the Second World War; who had saved the lives of several of his fellow soldiers; when he was ask why had he acted in such a heroic way he simple replied, "Oh, it's easy to be a hero when you're surrounded by so many." I think it is evident by this hero's answer, that there is a principle here! The principle is that we become who we are; because of whom we run with. The old saying "Birds of a feather flock together" is right-on regarding human nature. I am not talking about men being great warrior in the natural, but men and women who are warriors in the spiritual realm. There does not seem to be many that have God given, Bible based convictions. These convictions are a must to win spiritual battles. Some, no longer stand by scriptural standards, but look for numbers rather than improving the quality of a person's spiritual life. So my point is we need more spiritual heroes to give us needed spiritual examples, and less heroes of the world!
Missionary Schedule for Arizona
 November 23-28, 2010 William and Bonnie Markham, Europe/Middle East, Portugal / Spain Bill and Bonnie Markham, formerly of Kingsburg, California, received their appointment as missionaries to Brazil in 1980. After completing two productive terms in Brazil, the Markhams transferred to Portugal to give leadership to the struggling church. He stated, "In Portugal I am the field superintendent. I have legalized the church and restructured the by-laws and am involved in leadership training, evangelism, and church planting." In 1994 his responsibility expanded to include the UPC of Spain. The past several years have been difficult for the Markhams. Painful back surgeries have kept Bonnie Markham confined to California. He shuttles between California and the field, desperately trying to be both a good husband and a productive missionary. It is hoped that her condition will improve so that she will be able to accompany her husband to the field.
 Dec 7-12, 2010
Devin and Brandi Doyle, Grenada
Devin and Brandi Doyle are lifelong residents of Starks, LA, where they attend The First Pentecostal Church. Prior to being involved in Missions work, the Doyles served as youth ministers in their local assembly for two years. Since that time they have traveled to the Windward Islands for three AIM terms. During their time overseas, they were actively involved in encouraging national revival, establishing new church works and promoting Bible school education. Their current plans include returning to the Windward Islands along with their two beautiful daughters Mia and Sophia to continue their missions endeavor.  January 11-16, 2011 Amy Sawyer, Central America/Caribbean, Belize An honors graduate of Jackson College of Ministries, Amy Sawyer has spent the past 17 years actively involved in missions. In 1990 she went to El Salvador as an associate in missions to work under the direction of Bruce Howell and later transferred to Honduras to work with her father and mother, Jerry and Brenda Sawyer. In 1997 she transferred to Belize where her primary work is directing the Bible school which she founded. Amy Sawyer received her appointment as a United Pentecostal Church missionary in September 2002. She was ordained by General Director of Foreign Missions Bruce Howell in a special chapel service at World Evangelism Center in February 2004. She is heavily involved in children's and youth ministries. She is also the acting superintendent of the Spanish District of the UPC of Belize.  January 18-23, 2011 Robert and Gayle Frizzell, Asia Appointed to Southeast Asia in September 1990, Robert and Gayle Frizzell pioneered the UPC in Vietnam, Laos, the Golden Triangle, and Cambodia and converted, established, and trained the ministry in these nations. He started an International, a Burmese, and two Thai churches in Bangkok, Thailand. He assists the national church in Thailand and Myanmar with ministerial and leadership training. He teaches in the Burmese Bible school and conducts ministerial participation. Because of this, I travel much. When I begin something new in a place, I convert, disciple, and train local ministry to assume the local, the new provincial, or national church. When I go into an established national work, I reaffirm the doctrine in detail, encourage and strengthen the ministry, motivate them to greater evangelism, and teach what is requested." February 1-6, 2011Robert and Lisbeth Dame, Bolivia After high school, Robert Dame spent a year as an AIMer in Argentina. While studying at Indiana Bible College, he spent five summers in Guatemala, teaching, preaching, and constructing the Bible school building and churches. During the last summer in Guatemala, he and his future wife worked in campus ministry. Following their 1998 marriage, they started a Spanish daughter work in Houma, Louisiana, and pastored for five years. They were appointed to Bolivia in 2002. In Bolivia, the Dames directs the Bible school in Cochabamba and oversees extension studies. He is a presbyter and coordinates evangelism and leadership seminars and soul-winning boot camps. They are very active in campus ministries; he's the regional campus ministries coordinator. Lisbeth Dame has a passion for children's ministries and serves as national Sunday school director. Her ministries extend to teachers' seminars, evangelism, outreach to a children's home, and women's prisons.
They have assisted at both First United Pentecostal Church, Richland, Mississippi, and Pentecostal Tabernacle, Hattiesburg, Mississippi. In August 2005 their dream of becoming missionaries came to pass when they accepted an AIM assignment in Turkey where they served faithfully for five years. In September 2009, Shawn and Tammy became fully appointed intermediate missionaries to Turkey. They are now in the process of learning the Turkish and Arabic languages. Once they have completed deputation, they will be move to the city of Antioch, Turkey, where we were first called Christians. info is available online at www.foreignmissions.com  March 29-April 3, 2011 Randy and Theresa Richardson, Africa, Mauritius / Seychelles / Reunion In February 1994, the Randall Richardsons assumed the oversight of the island nations of Mauritius, Seychelles, and Réunion. Originally appointed to Madagascar in 1980 after a two-year AIM assignment, they served for 16 years in Madagascar, during which time the church grew from 2,000 members to more than 25,000. The Randall Richardsons pioneered the work in Seychelles with the help of a Malagasy brother, while giving leadership to the church in Mauritius and working to establish the church in La Réunion. God has blessed with over 4,000 constituents, 18 churches and preaching points, and 14 licensed ministers in the three nations. In 2000 the Richardsons were unable to secure a resident visa for Mauritius. Therefore, following a short furlough, they studied French in Bordeaux, France, for nine months before establishing residency in La Réunion, from where they lead the work in the three nations. April 12-17, 2011 Rusty Reddick  May 10-15, 2011 Stanley Scism, South Asia / United Kingdom Born in South India, Stanley Scism moved to North India when his parents, Harry and Audrene Scism, studied language, pioneered churches, and led church organizations in India and NE India. They spent nine months in the Baltic Republics and over a year in Croatia, where they presently are working with various home groups in order to pioneer a church. Upon returning to the field, they will settle in the capital city, Zagreb, and work on establishing a church there, find new contacts and travelling also in Slovenia, pioneering works.
 August 9-14, 2011 Ed and Naomi Hosmer, Japan While on active duty with the U.S. Air Force in Japan, Ed Hosmer and his wife Naomi were under Paul Dennis's ministry. Due to an overwhelming burden to reach the Japanese people with the gospel and a specific calling on their lives to evangelize Japan, Hosmer sacrificed a promising law enforcement career and separated from the military. They pursued their calling by serving as AIMers for eight years and currently pastor one of the fastest growing UPC churches in Japan. They received their appointment as UPCI missionaries to Japan in 2002. They have created a bilingual discipleship program which is very effective in training saints and national leaders and ministers. Having lived in Japan for over 15 years (Ed) and being a Japanese national with a command of the language (Naomi), the Hosmers are valuable assets to the kingdom of God in reaching the Japanese people with Bible salvation.
