Let the Bidding Start!

The 6th Annual Ogunquit Museum of American Art Almost Labor Day Auction featured an incredible selection of 59 art works from nationally known artists and some of the most prestigious individuals working in Perkins Cove and Ogunquit since the Museum was founded. Successful bidders added works by Charles Woodbury, Edward Betts, DeWitt Hardy and Pat Hardy, woodcuts by Don Gorvett and oils by Katherine Doyle to their collections. The results are still being tallied for a report in the near future. In the meantime, re-savor the moment and thanks for your support!

Teeny Tiny Art Vendor

Teeny Tiny Art Vendor a Hit at Silent Auction

The Teeny Tiny Art Vendor is shown in action during the Almost Labor Day Auction. Loaned by Three Graces Gallery in Portsmouth, the machine contained small OMAA gift boxes containing the work of local artists, including photographer Nancy Grace Horton (above, right).

Six additional artists contributed work for this entertaining addition to the Silent Auction portion of the event, including illustrator Bill Paarlberg, Mildred Johnson, Helen Rose Hennessey, Russel Whitten, Ali Goodwin and Sarah Haskell. All purchases supported the not-so-teeny work of the Ogunquit Museum of America Art.

Donations to the White Glove Fund Added to Auction Action

Guests offered donations to the 2010 OMAA White Glove fund during the Silemt Auction and on the bidding floor.

Proceeds from this year's White Glove Fund will support the cleaning and re-framing of the Charles Woodbury painting, "The Wave" and framing, under glass, for Mark Tobey's "Space Intangibles" (above) -- two important pieces from the Museum's permanent collection.

The Silent Auction helped put everyone in the mood to support the 2010 Almost Labor Day Auction, collected generous donations from local businesses and individuals -- and gave guests plenty of time to mingle, sample the delicious offerings provided by caterer Shaker Hill Kitchens, listen to live jazz performed by Doug Bennett and Al Derben and take a close look at the art for the Live Auction soon to follow.
