MKEimages.com Image of the Week
Our "Image of the Week" comes from the annual Polar Bear Plunge held last Sunday (Jan. 1) at Bradford Beach on Milwaukee's lakefront. While a few of the brave jump in early, the anticipation builds, nerves are fueled and the initial wave begins when the air horn sounds at noon. As one group runs out into the frigid waters of Lake Michigan, another lines up at the shore and enters upon their return. Other than a few stragglers, hundreds of the revelers are in and out within a 30 minutes. Water Temperature 40 deg., Air Temperature 30 deg., Wind Speed 25 mph, and Wind Chill 16 deg. Check out a few additional images of the festivities or click here to view a video of the swimmers entering water as the event began. Photo Credit: Mark Bertieri |
