MKEimages.com Image of the Week - WI Museum of Quilts & Fiber Arts

MKEimages.com Image of the Week
Our "Image of the Week" is of the Barn Gallery at the Wisconsin Museum of Quilts & Fiber Arts in Cedarburg. The museum is dedicated to educating the public about the artistic, cultural, historic and social importance of quilts and fibers arts. They also seek to increase the awareness of historic structure preservation. The museum's roots extend back to 1988 when a group of quilters in southeastern WI founded the WI Quilt History Project, Inc., whose mission was to preserve the history and creativity expressed in quilts through documentation and research. Since 1988, over 8,000 quilts and their stories have been captured. In 2001, the group purchased the Hoffmann-Boeker farmstead as the future home of a museum dedicated to creating, preserving and teaching fiber arts.

MillerCoors Holiday Lites Show

The MillerCoors Holiday Lites show is the largest display of its kind in the Midwest, with more than 300,000 energy-efficient LED lights that would stretch more than 30 miles if laid out end to end. The tradition began in the 1950s and was revitalized as part of Miller Brewing Company's 150th anniversary celebration in 2005. This year marks the seventh year since the Lites show was reinstated. The show runs each Friday and Saturday during December through Friday, December 23. Shows are every 20 minutes, beginning at 4:40 p.m. until 8 p.m.
