With the summer festival season slowly coming to an end, two major events take place this weekend. Beginning tomorrow Milwaukee's Irish Fest is the world's largest celebration of Irish music & culture, showcasing more than 100 entertainment acts at the four-day, 16-stage event at the Summerfest grounds on Milwaukee's lakefront. Our "Image of the Week" features the Glencastle Irish Dancers performing last year on the Tipperary/Air Trans stage at Irish Fest. The Glencastle Irish Dance School opened its doors in Milwaukee in 2000 and offers a choice of participation in Irish dance for both children and adults, from international dance competitions to simply learning a few steps and performing at a local events. Also on tap this weekend is the Port Washington Maritime Heritage Festival on the city's lakefront just a short drive north of Milwaukee (Aug. 19-21). The festival is an award-winning event featuring three majestic tall ships, an Artisan's Marketplace, educational and historic activities and displays, two music stages, harbor tours, children's activities, a food/beverage court, fireworks and a cardboard boat regatta.
