They can quickly log into Facebook, write a customized message about your studio or services, and click "Share" to post your business's logo, name, and website directly to their Facebook Walls!

Been on Facebook lately? We sure have! This month we're rolling out Facebook Connect, a feature that lets your clients access your MINDBODY Site using their Facebook logins. We'd also like to introduce you to our first-ever Facebook App: MINDBODY Appointment Booker. These features work together to create a seamless booking experience. Customers who've linked their logins can sign into Facebook and find appointment services with you, then complete the booking in your MINDBODY Site without having to sign in! Read on to learn more about letting customers book appointments through your Facebook page.

Facebook Connect 

The first step to getting your clients to book services and make purchases online is access. Two months ago we gave you a way to let your clients log into Consumer Mode using their email addresses -- now they can sign in using their Facebook logins! Save your customers the task of having to create a password to your MINDBODY Site by using our new Facebook Connect Feature.    

 

 

A Facebook login header will now display in every place that you can log into your MINDBODY Site. Your clients will always have the ability to switch users, but once a client has linked his or her Facebook login with your site it'll remember his or her username and display the profile photo from Facebook (in the browser used to access MINDBODY).    

 

 

Here's what they'll need to do:

 

1. Click the blue Facebook "Log In" Button.

2. Provide the email address and password that they use to access Facebook, in a separate pop-up window (below).

 

 

 

3. Agree to share their basic information with MINDBODY.  

 

 

 

4. Verify their login to your MINDBODY Site, and it's done!

 


 

Things to know:

  • Clients whose Facebook emails match the emails saved in your MINDBODY Site can skip Step 4! Your site will recognize the correlation, and save them the hassle. 
  • Your customers must have existing login credentials to your site, or must create a new account, in order to link it with their Facebook logins.  
  • Once they've linked their logins, your clients can make a change to their email addresses in your MINDBODY Site or in Facebook and the link will remain active.  
  • Unfortunately, site owners and staff cannot log into MINDBODY using Facebook logins. 
  • Facebook links do not function cross-regionally.    
  • The Facebook link can be removed by clicking the "Disconnect" Link from the client's profile in Business Mode or from the My Info Page in Consumer Mode. Deleting a client account inside of MINDBODY will also break the Facebook link.
    • You can rename "Disconnect" to anything you like using the Hotwords Feature in Language Settings. 

You're also able to customize lots of the verbiage involved with Facebook Connect. The following are editable page phrases that your clients will encounter during the Facebook Connect workflow:

  • Please verify your <STUDIONAME> login.
  • Log in with Facebook
  • Log in as (only shown if the "Been here before?" box is present)
  • If you don't have an existing login, please call the business at <STUDIOPHONE>.
  • I don't have a <STUDIONAME> login
  • Enter your username and password one last time so we can link your account to Facebook.
  • Before you can log in using Facebook...
  • <STUDIONAME> doesn't allow clients to create new accounts online.  
Use Facebook to Generate More Bookings Online

Businesses everywhere are leveraging their visibility on Facebook to connect with their customers and develop a social relationship online. While you've focused their attention toward your Facebook page, why not let them browse your  appointment schedule from within the site as well?

We decided to build an app for Facebook called "MINDBODY Appointment Booker." Fans of your Facebook page can access the app from a link under the profile photo on the left side of the screen. Our Appointment Booker syncs directly with your MINDBODY Site to make reservations in real time, and you can set it up to allow any member of your staff to be an administrator.

To get the app:

1. Search for "MINDBODY Appointment Booker" in the search bar.



2. Install the app by clicking the button on the landing page.



3. Agree to share information with our application. Don't worry, we promise not to misuse any of your Facebook information. You can read our Privacy Policy here.



4. The setup screen will launch automatically for you to search for your business's name. Please remember to use the name that is listed in MINDBODY to find it.



5. Enter your MINDBODY username and password to log in. If your business has a few locations, you can set the app up to function with all of them, or handpick a couple.

You can choose to display appointment availability for all staff. If you run a large shop, then your service providers can also set up versions of the app to display just their availability to use on their own Facebook pages.

You can also change the display name of the app from "Book an Appointment" to a name of your choice. This text will display in a heading at the top of the app.
  • To change the name of the app's link on the left side of your business's profile:
    • Open the Settings page by clicking from your home screen; choose from the options on the left, and scroll to "MINDBODY Appointment Booker." Here you'll have the option to visit the app, edit settings, and generate a direct URL link. Choose "Edit Settings" to create a custom tab name.
Hit "Finish Setup" once you've finalized these options.



6. Voila! You've successfully launched the booker app and enabled Facebook users to book services directly from your page. This is what they'll see:



Administrators on your Facebook page will see a button called "Admin Settings" at the top of the app. They can use this button to change location preferences, select or remove staff schedules, and change the display name.

Your customers can use the app to choose what kind of appointment they need, which staff member they'd like to see, and on what date, at what time, and at which location (if applicable) the appointment will take place. Once customers hit "Book Your Appointment" your MINDBODY Site will open on a separate tab in their browsers for them to log in to complete the booking. This step is important because your site needs to know which client account to make the appointment for.



When they return to Facebook having successfully book the appointment using your MINDBODY Site, they'll be welcomed with the greeting below and will be given the option to post an update about your services to their walls, or book another appointment!
