Greetings!
knitch will not have as many class offerings during the summer, so don't miss May's opportunities to improve your skills or learn a new technique. There are still some great offerings which begin next week including: 3 Tunisian Crochet workshops [guest instructor, Sherril Thies is teaching at TNNA this June - don't miss this opportunity]; Magic Loop Socks for you truly adventurous sock knitters; a Dye Workshop with Susan Forbes [an opportunity to create your limited edition yarn]; and a chance to knit one or even two of Sue B's easy Summer Shawls. Currently, Sue is working on two new designs for summer knitting and is ready to teach the beginner knitter in her Beginning Cowl class.
Speaking of techniques, the Sunday Fiesta Knit Along group is busy working on their mitered squares for shawls and more while sharing their left over sock yarns. Join them from 2-4 on Sundays! |

Vogue has just launched thier premiere issue of VOGUEknitting "Crochet" magazine. It is full of all the regular features you have come to expect from Vogue Knitting: technique articles; yarn, product and book reviews; plus an eye-popping feature on the wonderful work being created by crochet artists around the world. This will be on the news stands next week but subscribers will not receive this issue. Come take a look before they are gone.....
A new bulky, Y5 yarn from Ella Rae has arrived: Seasons. Kathleen finished this adorable Knitting Pure and Simple sweater vest (just a little large for Dolly!) in a snap, even with the zipper! Seasons is a blend of 76% Acrylic, 14% Wool, and 10% Polymide and knits up at 14 Sts and 20 rows per 4 inches on a 8 or 9 needle. The self-stripping colors are reminiscent of Noro. They do recommend hand washing and drying flat, but it is another sturdy chain link fiber geared for heavy wear.

Kathleen's other project, the Louet Euroflax Linen sportweight tunic top, called "Cornflower Shell" from Interweave Knits spring issue is a fast, breezy, stylish summer project. Linen is one of those fantastic fibers that continue to soften with washings and wearings and is just right for the warmer seasons. |

When I am not knitting, I can usually be found volunteering for the AFS Student Exchange Program. For the past 65 years AFS has sent thousands of American high school students abroad for 6 weeks to a year on life-changing adventures. And Wisconsin is the second largest hosting state, providing homes for over 200 young people from over 30 countries. If you would like to open your home to an AFS student or would like more information about sending your own child abroad, please let me know and I will get you started. Or, check out the program at www.AFSUSA.org . This year I am hosting an amazing young lady from Italy who continues to enrich my life daily. Host families are needed for the coming school year! Do think about it!!!
