Greetings!
You may notice in the next month that there are fewer staff members in the shop. Two of our employees, Sue B and Christi, decided it was time to take full time jobs and Barb decided to retire from retail in order to enjoy a less structured retirement from teaching. You will still see them on and off teaching and or subbing. They have been with us since we opened, 5 ½ years ago, and we will miss them! The good news is that local fiber artist, Susan Forbes, has agreed to take on floor hours. Many of you know her from her workshops in yarn dyeing and wet felting as well as project classes. She is a welcome addition to our floor staff. |
3-D Fiber Sculpture
|
|
Susan Forbes, had the second in her series of Wet Felting Workshops. In her first class students made a hat and scarf. This past weekend it was a 3D object. Using un-spun wool, soapy water, a resist, and friction, participants made a bowl, cat bed and a vase. Susan says her next workshop will be a purse. Watch the website for updates.

| April Classes | | |
Some starting this week!
Specialty classes include the Knitting SOS Workshop for those needing help with fixing common knitting mistakes, and "The Elm Sock" which is knit using the two circular needle technique and is featured in Clara Parkes' new The Book Of Socks. If you are looking for a fun and quick knit for your springtime hands, consider the Soxxy Mitts class.
Also, just for fun, join Katie on Sundays starting April 22, from 2-4, in a free Fiesta Knit-Along You will be using and sharing your stash of left over sock yarns. Create a totally unique "something" based on the "Fiesta" pattern found on Raveley. |
| What's New in the Shop? | | |
New Cascade Yarns are!
The Yarn Tasting votes were tallied, the orders placed, and we are happy to introduce three new yarns:
* Heritage Hand Painted Sock Yarn (75% Merino wool/25% Nylon)
* Venezia Sport (70% Merino wool/30% Silk)
* 220 Superwash Sport (100% Superwash Merino wool)

These lighter weight yarns are wonderful for Spring and Summer knitting.
Sport weight is often interchangeable with DK weight and is perfect for lightweight sweaters, shawls, colorwork hats and mittens, too. The fantastic new Heritage Hand Paint Sock yarn is not only perfect for socks, but for wristlets and shawlettes as well. Cool summer projects!
Yet to come for the fall season, will be Eco Duo. That was the gorgeous alpaca/wool blend voted high among favorites by the Yarn Tasters! |
| Two Happy and Talented Knitters | | |
These are just two of our clever customers who happened by when staff had a camera in hand. The happy young lady is Chelsea G who is sporting her fantastic cowl was knit by one of Sue B's beginning students, Chelsea G, shown wearing her creation, knit in her favorite color. She and her mother Jill have both been taking classes at knitch and are advancing rapidly!

You remember the plain old Wallaby by Cottage Creations? It has been knit by many and has been around forever but Lila has taken to another level by adding traditional Gansey stitch patterns. Such a simple change can make such a difference! [I promise to be more daring in my knitting].
