What did I buy that book for, again?
One Knitter's New Year Resolution

If you've been knitting for any length of time, you probably have a shelf or two filled with knitting books and back issues of knitting magazines, possibly several binders full of patterns, and plenty of PDF files saved on your computer, too. (Let's not even talk about the yarn...)

For 2012, Christi decided to systematically go through every book, pattern, and magazine she owns (dating back to the early '80s) and knit the project that was the reason she acquired it in the first place. After all, every one of those projects seemed interesting or exciting at the time. She resolved: if it no longer appeals, then out with the Old to make room for the New.

This resolution has made her happier already, with the completion of Knitting New Year Project #1:

FUNNN at knitch over the past weekend:

Most available seats in the shop were filled with knitters last Sunday during our Open House for the 2nd Annual Customer Rewards drawing and the launch of the new Sunday "UFO" Knitalong.

Needles flew and suspense mounted as Sue L. stirred the big bowl of yellow entry slips. Each slip represented a customer who earned and redeemed a Frequent Buyer Reward in 2011.

At least one happy winner was present when her name was drawn. Jenny R. won her choice of a "retired" shop sample--and wore it home that afternoon.

Four others also won retired samples and came in on Monday to make their selection--except for one.

When she received the news by phone Sunday afternoon, it happened to be late in the evening where she was: France.

Sweater Success Story
It Fits!

Kerri D. had never knitted anything beside scarves and washcloths before she joined the Fearless Knitting class.

After one 3-week session, she felt fearless enough to try her hand at a bigger project--that is, the one BIG project lots of new knitters find most daunting: a sweater. Many opt for making a baby sweater on the first try, but not Kerri. She decided to knit a sweater for the person who would appreciate it the most: herself.

Here she models her "Wonderful Wallaby" hooded pullover, made with Cascade 220 Tweed.
