brown sheep trunk

OPEN KNITTING:

Every Wed: 1-3PM

 1st and 3rd Thurs:
5-8 PM
Toy Challenge Ends October 1st
But please keep those toys coming...

You still have a couple of days to get your toys to us  in order to be eligible for a $20 gift certificate to knitch.

But don't stop knitting or crocheting and bringing in toys! The need for about 35 toys a month is ongoing.

The gals from PB&J will come and take away a few armloads every month and deliver them to Children's Hospital. You can be sure your handmade toys will be welcomed there with a child's open arms.

Thanks to everyone who has donated knitted and crocheted toys so far  We just added 17 more toys to the window, putting us over 100.

Call 262-646-9392 for more information or e-mail knitch@knitch.net.

Drop-in  vs. Making A Reservation

Knitting RX Etiquette

knitch staff is always happy to help with quick knitting questions and project fixes, but if you suspect you are in need of coaching or serious un-knitting that may take more than 5-10 minutes, please reserve time in advance with one of our instructors. Call 262-646-9392 to make an appointment at a time that works for you.

At knitch, we all wear many hats (knitted or crocheted, of course!) and while on the sales floor, we want to remain equally available to everyone who walks in our doors.

So if you want to "hang out" while you re-work your glitches, please expect us to circulate between our various duties and other customers while checking back with you from time-to-time to see how things are going.

Thanks for your understanding.

REWARDS Reminder
REWARDS customers:

Since initiating our Customer Rewards program over a year ago, we have been sending out courtesy email reminders about pending expiration dates for earned Rewards.

Due to the time-consuming nature of sending out ever- growing number of reminders, we have decided to discontinue this practice.

Please mark your Rewards expiration on your calendar so you remember to use it.

And remember, every time you redeem your $15 Reward, you have a chance to enter our end-of-year drawing. Ask us if we forget to have you fill out a yellow Rewards drawing slip.

Introducing knit.wear magazine: "Simple Knits for the Thoughtful Knitter"

The premiere issue of knit.wear is now in the shop. It's SO NEW, Interweave Press doesn't even have any extra information about it on their website. You'll just have to see it in "realtime".

The Latest issue of Crochet Traditions is now available, too.

NEW From Jojoland, a heavy worsted version of Rhythm and Melody color-twist yarns: Fantasia

Show and Tell
A Shawl for the Long Haul
Kathie B cast on for a lace shawl in March,
to wear to a September wedding.

That was 2 years ago.

Fortunately, the happy couple moved their wedding to a venue in the Caribbean, so the shawl wasn't a necessity. But Kathie kept on knitting.

When she finished the central rectangular section, she figured she was 75% done. But to her chagrin, the border took just as long to knit as the body.

She admits it drove her nuts at times and more than once she just had to put it down for few months. But in the the end, the results were worth it. NO question, this is a beauty of a shawl!

Worked in Rowan Kidsilk Haze, the pattern comes from the book Victorian Lace Today.

A Good Read

If you can, get your hands on a copy of the Ladies' Home Journal, September 2011. (Try you library)

A 911 dispatcher tells how "...when you deal with life-or-death situations every day, two needles and a ball of yarn have a way of providing the comfort you crave."

The article on page 58, "Life's a Stitch", is excerpted from the book A Life in Stitches: Knitting my Way Through Love, Loss and Laughter by Rachel Herron.
