Customer Garage Sale a Success

Shoppers thronged the sale's early hours last weekend, finding bargains galore on yarn, patterns, and needles.

Twenty-five sellers participated
and this week we issued 25 knitch gift certificates, ranging from $2 to $195.

Sellers who opted to have us donate their unsold items enabled us to give 4 big bags of yarn to Chemo Cap Knitters, Prayer Shawl Ministries, and Women's Help Centers.

A big THANK YOU to everyone--sellers, shoppers, donators --who contributed to making our fist-ever Customer Garage Sale a rewarding event for all!

Knitter's and Crocheter's Resource
How big is a newborn's head? What does that symbol on the yarn label mean?

We're always happy to answer questions like these

in the shop, but did you know that our source for much of this information happens to be the Craft Yarn Council?

Formed in 1981 to raise awareness about fibers, the Council maintains a website that provides all kinds of useful information for knitters and crocheters on industry standards, common abbreviations, body measurements and more.

Check it out!

Weekend dress 2
"Anu" Dress
Our knitter-at-large, Amy M. worked this dress in Berroco Weekend cotton-blend yarn.

The design--called "Anu"-- comes from Berroco booklet #296 and features a vertical center panel of a feather-and-fan stitch variation.

"Swish"

The best way to appreciate the "Swish" wrap is to see the model  in the shop, knit by Kathleen--even this photo from a professional photographer doesn't convey the full effect of this simple but dramatic garment: a lacey, drapey, loose vest.

From Rowan Magazine #47, the design uses Rowan Lenpur Linen
