In a world with so many big problems, what can one person do to make a difference?
Ask Robbie Rose, knitch friend and the founder of Pals Bring Joy, a new local organization dedicated to making a difference in the lives of children who must spend extended time away from their families while undergoing cancer treatment in one particular ward at Children's Hospital in Milwaukee.
She says, "With only 24 beds, I figure we can keep up with providing things for the kids who rotate through." Depending on how many donations PB&J gets, the hope is to someday be able to expand to other wards in the same hospital, or beyond.
"We especially need knitted and crocheted toys," Robbie says. "The toys are like new friends for these kids. They are like little buddies that help the children get through their treatments." Each child has a caseworker who selects from the donated items the things the child will find most comforting, depending on age, need, and interests.

Robbie and former knitch instructor Gail McGuire stopped in this week--along with their mascots Peanut Butter the Bear and Jelly the Doll--to tell us that the PB&J website is up and running. If you are interested in knitting comfort items for children, the site tells you everything you need to know.
Please direct all questions to PB&J.

Our YARN DONATION basket is currently a little empty. We supply area charity knitters with all that we receive.
