Knitting Outreach
| | Yarn Donations go to Good Causes
Do you have any yarn you don't think you'll ever use? Whole skeins or even little odds-and-ends left over from your projects are welcome. We'll make sure it's put into the hands of knitters who are stitching for a kinder, warmer world.
Thanks to all our customers and friends who brought in donations of yarn this past year. We recently passed on several big boxes of yarn to Food for the Hungry, based in Brookfield.
The organization has a force of over 450 volunteers who serve more than 100,000 people each week, delivering bread products to social service providers in SE Wisconsin. Volunteers and clients use the yarn to knit winter clothing items for children in need.
Currently our donation bin is empty...HELP
Patriotic Dishcloths
Sale of these hand-knitted dishcloths around the Lake Country Area raised over $1150 last year for the charity Soldiers' Angels. As of November 15th, 2010, the project announced a new initiative to offer future donations to the Jacksonville, Florida-based organization, Wounded Warriors, which helps the families of fallen or wounded soldiers.
knitch accepts your donations of knitted dishcloths, and offers them for sale, with all proceeds going to the Patriotic Dishcloth project.

Greetings!
 | | Lustra by Berroco |
We're bidding a fond farewell to some "old favorite" yarns this month, and welcoming some that we hope will become NEW favorites:
Mission Falls fans faced disappointing news early this year when the company announced it will no longer produce 1824 Wool, 136 Superwash Merino and 1824 Cotton. We still have limited quantities of all these in stock--get them while the supply lasts. If you have an urgent need for a larger quantity of a particular color, we may be able to special-order full bags from our supplier, but no promises. Call with inquiries. Many Mission Falls patterns are still available. We will be phasing out Ella Rae Classic solids/heathers. The color palette has changed in the past couple of years so that it overlaps more and more with Cascade 220, one of our most popular yarns. We plan to expand our color selection of the 220, so look for new hues on the shelves soon. For the present, we will still carry Ella Rae Classic Marls and SandArt. Knitting Fever has discontinued Ella Rae Amity, a customer favorite machine-washable acrylic/wool blend for afghans and kids' items. The last of it we have in stock is on sale in the back room. INTRODUCING our newest vendor: BERROCO To replace Amity, we have brought in a similar yarn from Berroco. Vintage features a higher percentage of wool than Amity--40%--in a machine-washable blend with acrylic and nylon. As an added bonus, Vintage has a softer hand than Amity, it holds a stitch well, PLUS it comes in both worsted and chunky. One customer who came in as we were putting the new yarn on the shelves remarked that it was called Vintage "because it's like yarn used to be"--for classic knitting. It comes in a great range of colors, too. Other new yarns from Berroco include Lustra-a silky wool and Tencel blend, and Comfort DK, in baby prints. Berroco patterns feature trend-setting designs by Norah Gaughan. Mary highly recommends the free e-mail newsletter from Berroco: KnitBits. Check it out! |

| Private Lesson Policy Change | | |
Private lessons allow you to obtain one-on-one knitting help at a time convenient to you. Unfortunately, due to a growing number of students who schedule lesson appointments but fail to keep them without giving the instructor a courtesy call, our Private Lessson policy has been revised:
- If you make an appointment with an instructor for a private lesson outside the instructor's regular weekly "in shop" hours, prepayment is now required.
- If you cannot keep the appointment, notify the instructor at least 24 hours before the scheduled lesson and your payment will be applied to a rescheduled session.
- If you fail to keep the scheduled appointment, the pre-payment is non-refundable.
You will receive a full refund if the instructor cancels.

| Sweater Success Story | | | What a Wonderful Wallaby
Customer and student Jenny R. took up knitting not long after knitch opened 4 years ago. With lots of small projects behind her, and a few false starts on sweaters, Jenny signed up for the Wonderful Wallaby class last fall.
She tackled the project in earnest, with the goal of wearing the finished sweater on a Christmas visit to her parents' place in Wyoming.
On the eve of that departure, she succeeded in her goal--way to go, Jenny! We knew you could do it! Here she models her Wallaby with well-deserved pride.
