Fair Weather Knitting Friends
Winter snows may make shop close

When the weather outside is frightful, it's a good idea to give us a ring (262-646-9392)  before you go out in the storm, just to make sure we're open.

We  sometimes close the shop for all or part of the day due to excessively snowy, icy, or cold weather.

Greetings!

December already! Classes begin this Saturday, including Beginners and  Thrummed Mittens (only 2 spots remain in this class) A new session of Fearless Knitting starts next Tuesday.

Our class schedule is light this month, in recognition of the demands of the season. But if you expect to have some free time over "winter break", we're happy to custom-tailor a special class for you and your small group of family or friends. Call Kathleen (262-646-9392) to arrange a format, time, and project that meets your needs and interests. As always, private lessons are available, too.

We'll be bringing you some exciting new class offerings after the New Year, including an expanded format for sweater classes that allows more time between sessions for knitting homework, resoleable socks, and knitting with unspun wool rovings--to name a few. Watch for details coming soon. We'll announce the January and February class schedule as soon as it's posted on our website.

TONIGHT:

Thursday, December 2, from 6-9pm, Evening Open Knit.

K's Fiamato vest
Fiamato-- introduced by Knitting Fever last year, this yarn was all the rage during the winter knitting season, and it's still going strong now that winter has come around again.

A Tale of Totes

About 45 years ago, Mary received a gift from her mother--a canvas purse, with her initials embroidered on it. Though her initials have since altered a bit, Mary has continued to use the bag off-and-on all these years and one day she looked at it and thought: "That would make a great knitting bag."

Out of curiosity, she googled the name of the company, still legible on the tag inside her bag, and (lo and behold!) found Island Canvas in Roswell, Georgia. The company is now under new ownership, but still produces sturdy cotton duck totes like the one Mary's mother gave her.

Mary and Kathleen worked with the company to make a few knitterly modifications to the basic tote (such as extra pockets), added the knitch logo and voila!--a custom-designed, hand-crafted knitting bag, just right to hold your projects-on-the-go.
