Greetings!

Most knitters like touchy-feelie stuff--at least of the yarn and fiber kind. Indulge your senses and stop in to see the two trunk shows now on display in the shop.

View Christmas stockings from Judy's Colors, plus yarn, spinning fiber, and a knitted sample from Colinton Angoras, luxurious natural mohair from Australia.

Remember that Fall hours are now in effect for the shop: Evening Open Knitting takes place tonight, Thursday September 16 from 6-9pm. All are welcome.

Two Students Needed to Make Arnhild's Workshop a "GO"
Reversible Knitting, October 2-3, 2010

We know we said "last chance" last week, but a few days' grace have been added to the registration deadline for Reversible Knitting with Arnhild.

This class just needs 2 more students  by September 20th in order to avoid cancellation.

If you can, please join us in welcoming Arnhild back to knitch for another wonderful weekend workshop.

Knitting Angel
A new angle on giving aid and comfort

Oconomowoc resident and knitter Ginny Gallauer was in the local news recently in an article that described her project to raise funds for Soldier's Angels, a volunteer/non-profit organization that provides aid and comfort for women and men in the US armed forces.

washcloths

Ginny knits dishcloths and sells them around the Lake Country area for a nominal donation, 100% of which she sends to Soldier's Angels.

Do you have some extra cotton yarn in your stash or time to knit up a quick dishcloth yourself?

In aid of this project, knitch is collecting cotton yarn and finished dishcloths. Bring them into the shop, and we'll pass them on to Ginny and/or other volunteer knitters involved in this cause. Thanks!

Show-and-Tell
A Felting Adventure

Customer Chris O. stopped in not long ago for a skein of Cascade 220 that was destined to become a Felted Bucket Hat--her first-ever felting project. This week, she brought the finished hat in and modeled it for us. Tres chic!

Felted Bucket hat

Chris reported that she had limited success getting the hat to felt in her front-loading washer so she switched to the manual method:
it took about 45 minutes of going at it with a common, everyday plunger her utility sink to get the hat to the proper size and shape. (Call that your upper-body workout for the day...) Then she blocked it over a paint can covered with a towel.

The pattern for this one-skein project can be purchased online through Ravelry or from the designer's website.

Fish Heads
You Should Have Seen the One That Got Away...

Sue B's funky hat kick continues with these latest creations--wearable fish hats, worked up in miscellaneous worsted yarns.

Halloween costume? Gift for a Marine Biologist-Who-Has- Everything? Spawn of some insomniac knitting designer's sleep-deprived brain? You decide!

The pattern is free download from the online knitting magazine, Knitty.
