Reversible Knitting Class
|
|
Now you can take an up-close look at a sample of the reversible knitting technique that will be taught by Arnhild Hillesland at knitch this coming October. We were excited to receive the class project headband from Arnhild this week.
Reversible headband--red side | In class, you will learn how to knit
a two-layer fabric that has an identical pattern on both sides--but with the colors exactly
reversed. The two views you see in the photo are the inner and outer layers of the same headband--there's no right or wrong side and the finishing method is invisible, so you can't tell where the piece begins and ends.
Reversible headband-grey side |
Reversible Knitting Workshop with Arnhild: Saturday, October 2nd, 1-6pm, and Sunday, October
3rd, 9am-4pm.
Workshop fee: $130, includes pattern and yarn
Reserve your place now-- CALL 262-646-9392 to register. Call
or email with questions.

| Three Hats and Some Odds-'n-ends
Sue B. has been busily knitting throughout the summer and brings you two fun designs from the book
Folk Hats (Interweave Press) plus a funky classic from Elizabeth Zimmermann's Knitter's Almanac.Dancer's Hat |
- The Dancer's Hat, worked with
3 skeins 100% cotton "Clip" by Linie
- Pakul, worked in Sue's own
handspun llama yarn--you can substitute any Y5 bulky yarn.
Pakul |
- EZ's Maltese Fisherman's hat,
also in bulky yarn or doubled worsted. (Christi's tip: this hat is sized
for adults, but makes a great baby hat if you work the pattern exactly as given, but scale down the needles to
about a US 6 or 7 and use a single strand of worsted yarn.)
Maltese Fisherman's hat | For knitters who like to make use of all their scraps and bits of yarn, here is a project Sue. B found on Ravelry , but you can access the free pattern directly from the original source. (there's a crocheted version, too) Stitch Yourself gives you the instructions to make a tiny doll (Sue's is about 7" tall)--and then it's up to your imagination as to how to outfit the little person. Sue created a basic knitted wardrobe and some miniature accessories, too. Sticth Yourself doll | Another great scrap project is the "Bevy of Bangles" The pattern appears in Gifted: lovely little things to knit + crochetby Mags Kandis. Kathleen used miscellaneous worsted wools and leftover self-patterning sock yarns for these chunky felted and wrapped bracelets. Bevy of Bangles | |
