Looking
for a fun summer project to take on the road with you during your summer
vacation?
Add to the spirit of adventure by knitting up a few wild animals,
like the ones you can find in the single pattern "Safari Friends" by Knitting at Knoon.
Sue B made
the giraffe and lion shown here, plus the zebra that sneaked into the photo with
the zebra-striped sock. (below) The pattern also includes directions for an
elephant.
Kathleen's "Fuzzy Mitten Lamb"is done up in Alpaca With a Twist. The
pattern is a free download via Ravelry. There's a fuzzy monkey, too.
Did
you know...? Next Saturday, June 12 is Worldwide Knit in Public Day. Wherever you
go, be sure to take your knitting with you and proudly display our craft! The motto for the event is "Better living through stitching
together"
Stitch together with us EVERY Saturday (in air-conditioned comfort) from 1-3 this summer: We're
hosting a series of Sweater Knit-alongs.
The June sweater is the "Split-Neck T" from Knitting Pure and Simple.Sue B. finished one already, using some wool
from her stash. She's starting another one in Ella Rae Classic wool.
Jenni is working her "T"
in Artesanal, a textured cotton blend from AslanTrends. The style of this
pattern is adaptable to a wide range of yarns for multi-season wear; it's great for all but the very hottest days of summer.
The July sweater will be the "Happy Sweater" from Elspeth
Lavold Book 11.Sue L and Kathleen are each doing a different color combination
of this striped and textured pullover in Silky Wool by Elspeth Lavold. The
pattern offers size options for child through adult.

Take Your Sock Knitting in A New Direction
You'll learn new sock techniques in these classes, beginning
next week:
The Pedicure sock is worked cuff-down, and finished with
ribbing. Tues. 10-12, June 8, 15.
Summer Socks on Two Circular needleswith Jenni:
6-8 Wed. June 9, 16, 23
This sock is worked toe-up and finished with a simple
lace cuff.
Both sock samples use Fixation yarn from Cascade--a cotton/elastic
blend that keeps your feet cool but won't pool around your ankles like 100%
cotton socks tend to do. The elastic helps the yarn hug your feet.
