KNIT-ALONG with knitch
|
| Wherever two knitters are working on the same project, there's
potential for communing and commiserating.
Jenni and Sue B. found they were
both knitting The Split Neck T-Shirt by Knitting Pure and Simple--so they
decided to call it a KNIT-ALONG and invite others to join them.
Stop in on
Saturdays from 1-2 during May and June to knit along with them.
You can jump in
any time and get FREE tips on techniques, fit, and yarn choice.
Jenni is using AslandTrends
Artesanal, a textured cotton blend, and Sue is working from her stash.

Greetings!
This week's spotlight shines on a star student:
Haley G. knit this sweater for her doll, Laney, in Sue B's Kid's Knitting class. As you can see, it fits just right. May we all have such success with our first sweaters--way to go, Haley!
Kids Knitting will be offered on Saturdays throughout the summer months. Know any kids who are already thinking about what to do during summer vacation? (Or any moms who are thinking along the same lines?)
Coming Soon: We'll let you know as soon as our full schedule of Summer classes is posted on our website, but here's a sneak preview:
- Techniques on Tuesday: keep up your knitting fitness with short weekly workouts and learn new skills, too. We'll cover buttonholes, all about I-cords, Kitchener Stitch, Mattress Stitch, and more
- Dye-to-knit: in the Norwegian Boot Slipper Class, you'll custom-dye your own yarn for a two-color knitting treat.
- Introduction to Inkle Weaving: make a belt on a simple loom
- Pedicure Socks
ALERT: Our shop hours will change for the summer. Stay tuned for details.
We will be closed on Monday May 31st, Memorial Day

How to Be Right All the Time
| | | There's never a wrong side with Reversible Knitting!
Reversible Knitting or Double Knitting is an older technique of knitting in which two fabrics are knit simultaneously with two yarns on one pair of needles. Perhaps the most famous example of Double Knitting is in Leo Tolstoy's novel War and Peace which is found at this link. We won't go to that extreme in this workshop but you will have the tools to do so!
In this 11 hour workshop you will learn a hidden cast-on and bind-off so it appears that there is no beginning or end to your double thick headband. Using a 2-color pattern you will create a beautiful piece with mirror images on each side. You won't ever have to wear the same design on two consecutive days - blue with a red design on Monday and red with a blue design on Tuesday! How good is that?
Learn the mysteries of this technique from our returning master knitter Arnhild Hillesland, October 2rd & 3rd.
Cost for this workshop is $130 for 11 hours. Price includes the pattern and 2 skeins of yarn.
