Greetings!
Raise your hand if you ever wore a garment composed of
one or more crocheted Granny Squares back in the 70's. (some of us even qualify
as grannies ourselves, now...)
Does it surprise you that these crocheted marvels
are making a comeback? Hey-it's called "Retro" these days.
For those who missed
it back then (by not having been born yet or for other reasons) or for those
who want to relive the memories, but with a 21st century twist, sign
up for our Granny Square crochet class.
You can see from the photo that yarn
makes a difference. A Granny square rendered in a Noro self-striping yarn is a
thing of beauty, compared to what went on with harvest gold and avocado green acrylic
yarn 30 years ago.
Learn some hip new ways to apply this crochet technique. 12-2
Thursdays, April 15, 22, 29
Read about more class highlights below, plus our new Rewards System--Demystified. (We hope)
And don't forget Evening Open Knitting tonight, Thursday March 18th, 6-9pm. See you there! |
April and May Class Highlights

Keep Knitting to Stave off Spring Fever
Even if you're the kind of knitter who puts the needles away and exchanges mittens for garden gloves or baseball gloves in the warm weather, there's still time to pick up a new skill before true spring settles in.
We've added lots of new photos to individual class pages on our website so you can see what you'll get to make when you sign up for a class. For a closer look, check out our updated Class Sample board in the shop. NEW: Guest teacher Arnhild Hillesland has added a short 2 hour workshop on 2-color Stranded Knitting which will be Thursday evening from 6-8, April 22, in addition to the already scheduled full-day workshop on Twined Knitting. Both are Norwegian techniques. NEW: Knitting for the Home series: Knit a window valance or pillow. These are 2-week classes. Sign up for one or both. Socks Two Ways: Choose your weap...um, method-- 4 double point needles or 2 circular needles. Both classes will meet at the same time, on Wed. evenings in April. That means all participants will have the opportunity for a little "cultural exchange". See how the "other half" knits! NEW: First Hat--Spring Hat: an introduction to circular knitting for anyone who's never tried it. You'll make a hat for spring weather. PLUS: There's still time to sign up for the Felted Easter Basket class, 6-8 Wed. March 24. View the complete Class Schedule and click through links to see the many newly posted photos. Call 262-646-9392 to register, or mail a check to knitch, 608 Milwaukee St, Delafield, WI 53018. Please note....your position in class is not secured until payment has been made Call or e-mail with questions. |
REWARDS System--Demystified

Sign up now for program beginning in April
Time Line:
Now: Become a Rewards Member. See "How To" below.
April 1: Reward system starts. Qualifying purchases will begin to add up to Rewards.
Grace period. We will not issue any new Frequent Buyer punch cards. We will still give punches. You may use either program during this month but not both on the same purchase. The programs are mutually exclusive.
May 1: We will not punch or redeem FBCs as of this date. Thank you for understanding.
How to Become a Rewards Member:
Sign up next time you are in the shop. We'll ask for your name, email or postal address, telephone, and zip code.
knitch does not share this information with any other business or organization.
How to earn Rewards:
Let us know when you make a purchase that you are a Rewards member.
NOTE: The difference between the new system and the outgoing punch card system is that the cashier needs to know you are a Rewards member before the sale is completed so the items that are eligible for Rewards will accumulate points under your name. The staff will try to be dilligent in asking, but sometimes we are rushed and forget....
So help us (and yourself) by remembering to say"I'm a Rewards Member" when you step up to the counter to buy yarn for your next project.
Spend $200 on qualifying merchandise and earn a $15 Reward.
Qualifying merchandise:
- Yarn
- Books
- Patterns
Kits
- Selected accessories: notions including stitch markers, point protectors, tape measures, stitch holders.
Unlike the punch card which could not be used in conjunction with any other discount, now you may accumulate Rewards on many items even if they are already discounted.
How to keep track of your RewardsWhen you make a purchase, your receipt gives you a report that tells you:
- How much more you need to spend on qualifying merchandise to earn your next Reward
- How many Rewards you have accumulated
- When the Rewards expire
How to redeem your Rewards
- Once a Reward is earned, it is just like a coupon which has an expiration date. You have 60 days from the day it is earned to spend it.
- You may redeem it on the following sale the very same day if you wish
- You can use a Reward towards ANY merchandise or service sold at knitch.
Each time you earn a Reward you may enter your name into a drawing that will take place in September, 2010 at the
knitch 4th Anniversary Bash.
The more Rewards you earn, the more chances you have to win a prize. Prizes may include:
- knitch Gift Certificate
- Knitted store sample
- Free classes
- knitch mug
- And other yet-to-be-dreamed-of special stuff
FAQs: What if I lose the receipt that tells me I have a Reward? No problem! You don't need to bring in a receipt or show us anything to use a Reward. The computer keeps track of everything. Is there any way to transfer my punches into the new system? Sorry, no. Since the Rewards system is a feature built into our retail management software, it sets the parameters. Everybody starts at the same starting line. That's why we've given over two month's notice about the change.
We are excited about the switch and hope you are too! No more fishing for that elusive punch card that you can picture but cannot find! Brovo!
