Enabling Remote Access to the Quick Fields Agent 8.0.1 Service
Quick Fields Agent 8.0.1 consists of the Quick Fields Agent Service, which runs scheduled
Quick Fields sessions in unattended mode, and the Quick Fields Agent Administration Console, a snap-in for the Microsoft Management Console that helps you schedule the sessions and review the history. Quick Fields Agent 8.0.1 can be configured so that you can use the administration console to manage schedules from additional computers besides the one where the service is running. This can be helpful if, for example, the Quick Fields Agent Service is installed on a computer in the server room, but you want to schedule sessions from your desk, or if more than one person needs to be able to review the history of run sessions from different locations.
Note: To be scheduled in Quick Fields Agent, Quick Fields sessions must be accessible to the Windows user associated with the Quick Fields Agent service.
To enable remote access:
- Open the Quick Fields Agent Administration Console on the computer where the Quick Fields Agent Service is installed.
- Select the Settings node.
- Double-click on Remote Access. The Settings dialog box will open on the Remote tab.
- Select Enable Remote Access.
Additional Settings
When enabling remote access, you can also adjust the settings.
Port: The default port is 8092. If your computer has a firewall, you may need to open this port. You can also specify a different port, as long as it is not in use by another service.
Windows Authentication: Select Windows Authentication to connect to the Quick Fields Agent Service with the username and password used to log in to the remote computer.
Remote Configuration: The Allow Remote Configuration option refers to the configuration of Quick Fields Agent itself, not the sessions scheduled through it. If this option is selected, you will be able to change the settings for your Quick Fields Agent Service from a remote computer. If it is cleared, you will not be able to change the Quick Fields Agent settings from a remote computer, though you will still be able to configure schedules remotely.
