Quick Fields Special
Quick Fields special through the end of the year!

Quick Fields is a Laserfiche Capture tool that utilizes profiles for document specific settings to speed up the capture process. Quick Fields is used for many different document types such as, Minutes, Ordinances, Resolutions, AP Checks, etc.  The scan user clicks on the profile for the document type and Quick Fields will adjust to the correct Laserfiche Template, Volume, Folder, Naming Convention, scanner settings, etc.  This makes scanning more proficient by eliminating the need for decision making when scanning.  As a result, documents are scanned, organized and filed away in Laserfiche much more quickly and efficiently freeing up valuable labor time.

Quick Fields normally costs $495.00 per scanner. Now until December 31, 2008, DocUnited Imaging will offer Quick Fields for $350.00 plus Annual LSAP. That is a cost savings of $145.00 and virtually gives you one year of LSAP at no charge. Even at $495, Quick Fields is worth its weight in gold if you scan a lot of documents and many different document types into Laserfiche.

Upgrading to Laserfiche 8
The new release of Laserfiche 8 is out and not without some bugs that need addressing.  Right now we recommend that you wait to upgrade to Laserfiche 8 especially if you are using VRS.

I would like to give you some things to keep in mind for when you do upgrade:

#1 Check Your Hardware, Operating System and Database version.
Laserfiche 8 Server Requirements:
·         CPU:  2 gigahertz (GHz) 32-bit (x86) processor or better
·         Memory: 2 GB RAM
·         Operating system: Windows Server 2003 (Service Pack 1 or later)
·         Database engine: Microsoft SQL Server 2005 (Service Pack 2) for United Version - SQL Express 2005 is bundled in the MSDE upgrade
Do not try to use SQL 2000 - your system will be much slower than with 2005.
#2 All users must have Windows XP SP2 or higher.  It is not compatible with Windows 2000.
#3 Not all scanners work with version 8 - please check to make sure your scanner is still compatible.
#4 Make sure you have a good copy of your current database.
#5 Plan on a full day to complete the database migration from version 7 to version 8.  The database will need to be reindexed which is time consuming.
#6 Download version 8 software and license files.
#7 Uninstall version 7 from the server
#8 Install Version 8 server software
#9 Install Database Migration wizard that will convert your database from version 7 to 8.  Be sure to read the Migration Guide included with the setup.
#10  All thick clients on the workstations have to be uninstalled before you can install version 8.  This is not an upgrade, but it is a new release that also requires the latest version 8 licenses.
