Tips and Tricks - Laserfiche 8 Annotations
What are Annotations? Annotations are a way to add additional information to a page of your document.  There are a number of different types of annotations in Laserfiche:  some that can be added to both images and text (redaction, highlight, underline, and strikethrough) and some that can only be added to images (sticky note, stamp, rectangle, text box, callout text, line, freehand, image, and attachment).  Annotations cannot be applied to electronic documents.
For this issue I want to discuss redaction.   Redacting something on an image can be very useful.  Your company may have sensitive information that needs to be hid from unauthorized users.
How to redact your image or text:
1.       Open the document and navigate to the pages you want the redaction added to.  Make sure the Image Pane is visible.
2.       Click the Redaction button (it's on the toolbar by default), or select Redaction from the Annotations menu on the toolbar.
3.       Click and drag on the image to draw a box around the section you want to redact or select the text in the Text Pane that you want to redact.
4.       You may want to change the color of a redaction.  For example, on the employee record, the social security number is redacted in black.  This would let the supervisor know he/she is not allowed to see this.  If it was redacted in white, it may look like the social security number was left off by accident.  To change the color of the redaction, right click on the redaction, choose properties and under Main, fill color, you can change the color from the dropdown box.
