Who is Bill Brunson? Part 5
| | |

Throughout the spring we will be sharing some of the history and perspectives of our coming senior pastor. Bill will take over for Dalton in mid-June.
Bill recently chaired the Board of Ordained Ministry for the North Alabama Conference and has chaired the Annual Conference Worship Committee and the Annual Conference Arrangements Committee.
On vision casting: "I have been effective in casting a vision for improved worship services, outreach, and mission by understanding to what God was calling us, engaging others in the refinement of the vision to gain "buy in," and by utilizing various opportunities for communication to spread the vision. The function of the "vision caster" is to continually lift up the vision and goal - to communicate and to celebrate - so that new and long-term members can embrace what God is calling us to do."

VHUMC Clothes Closet Needs Donations
As you clean out for spring, please bring your excess clothing to the bins by the church library - children's, men's, women's, and shoes. You can leave the clothes on hangers or put them in bags. All usable clothing will go to someone in need.
Oak Mountain Mission Needs Furniture
Oak Mountain Mission is out of furniture. If you have a sofa, chairs, beds, chests, kitchen table & chairs, the mission could use them to help families who are in need. Call 685-5757 for pick-up. Questions, call Barbara Porter 444-9793.
Food Pantry
We are now serving 80 families each week! It takes 1,360 food items every Wednesday to provide for them, plus the wonderful fresh fruit and potatoes. The items needed for April are breakfast items. Panera Bread is now helping us with leftover items on Friday night; if you would like to help with the pick-up, bagging & freezing of these items (until the next Wed.) please let us know. You may volunteer once, quarterly, or monthly. Call Barbara Porter 444-9793.
Box Tops for Education
Please cut and save box tops for education from products that carry that designation. Fran Wells gathers these and delivers them to Jackson Elementary School. This program earns valuable money for much-needed supplies. VHUMC partners with Jackson in a variety of outreach efforts. The drop box is located on the wall outside Tyson Hall.

Music Notes - Sunday, April 22
| |
Join us this Sunday as our worship continues the Easter theme. We will sing hymns such as "Christ Is Alive," and "Thine Be the Glory." From the gospel of Luke we find the disciples still grappling with the idea of the resurrection. Hymns and songs such as "Stay With Us," and "Turn Your Eyes upon Jesus" will support the text. The Chancel Choir and Ensemble will sing "Somebody" by Ray Liebau. The soulful piece with elements of spiritual, jazz, and blues will allow us to know that somebody (Jesus) is still with us even when it seems he is not. Come and know that Christ is alive in our worship this week.
