Tuition and Fees
Fall semester invoices will be available in early August through the GoWMU portal and to authorized users. An invoice will also be mailed to each student's permanent address listed on the student's account. Payment is due on the first day of classes (Sept. 6) and payment plans are available. You can estimate your student's expenses in advance with our online cost of attendance calculator.
Campus Job Tip: Eligibility to Work
Incoming students look for part-time student jobs on campus every fall. Although it can take time to find a campus job and the competition is steep, once a student secures a job, they often keep it for several years. WMU is the largest employer of our own students with over 4,000 students working on campus.
If your student is seeking a campus job, or even an off-campus job, be sure they come to campus with documentation of their eligibility to work in the United States. An employer must see the original documents, not copies or faxes. Click here to see what documents are accepted.
For a student working on campus, on or before the third day of employment, they must report in person to Human Resources with original, unexpired documents to verify identity and employment eligibility.
Questions can be directed to Career and Student Employment Services at (269) 387-2745 or the Human Resources I-9 coordinator at (269) 387-3620.

Things to Know - Incoming New Families...
Residence Hall Roommate Assignments
Roommate assignments will be emailed to students this Friday, July 22, after 5 p.m. The roommate's name and contact information will be sent to each student's WMU email address.
Students are encouraged to start getting to know each other and discuss who is bringing what items to the room. This will avoid duplications such as two carpets, refrigerators, microwaves, TVs, etc. The deadlines to order lofts, futons, carpets, and Microfridges are in mid-August, so there is plenty of time for roommates to discuss what to bring and make shared decisions.
Curious about what your student will need in his or her room? Click these links for lists of What to Bring and What Not to Bring.
Move-in details are included in the email. All first year students participating in Fall Welcome have assigned move-in times based on where they live. Most students will arrive Tuesday, Aug. 30. Some students are part of special programs and will move in Monday, Aug. 29. If your student is part of a special program, the program coordinator will notify your student of the early move-in date by August 1. Click here for the special programs listed on the Fall Welcome website.
For questions about move-in or housing, please contact Residence Life at RL-info@wmich.edu or (269) 387-4735.
