GO ROCKETS!

The University of Toledo has received the prestigious Cartwright Award for excellence in academics, athletics, and citizenship. UT athletics set a record GPA of 3.167 for the Fall of 2011 and 3.266 for the Spring of 2012.  

 

UT has also received the prestigious Jacoby trophy  for the  MAC's outstanding women's program.

 

The University of Toledo has also been named the winner of the 2011-12 Mid-American Conference Institutional Academic Achievement Award.  For the academic year, UT's 351 student-athletes posted an overall athletic grade point average of 3.171.

 

"We are very proud that our student-athletes won the MAC Institutional Academic Award for 2011-12," said UT Athletic Director Mike O'Brien. "This is a great honor and a true indicator of the dedication and effort of our student-athletes in the classroom. This honor is also shared by the coaches, classroom instructors and Rocket academic staff that work so hard in mentoring and nurturing our student-athletes."

 

The MAC Institutional Academic Achievement Award is presented annually to the conference institution which achieves the highest overall institutional GPA for student-athletes competing in institutionally sponsored sports for the academic year.  It is just the latest academic honor for the Rockets. Last spring, UT student-athletes set an all-time high with a collective GPA of 3.266. The UT men's program also won the MAC Faculty Athletic Representative Award for highest GPA in both 2009-10 and 2010-11.

 

The top three MAC schools by GPA are as follows:

 

2011-12 Institutional Academic Achievement Award

1. Toledo

3.171 GPA

2. Western Michigan 

3.139 GPA

3. Eastern Michigan

3.132 GPA

 

 

University of Toledo Athletic Director Mike O'Brien has been named the Under Armour Northeast Region Athletics Director of the Year award for 2011-12 by the National Association of College Directors of Athletics (NACDA). 

 

Congratulations  to UT Athletic Director Michael O'Brien and his dedicated staff and to the UT athletes who are having an impact in the classroom and on the fields of play. Congratulations to the UT faculty and advisors who work closely with UT athletes.
