Dr. Scott Scarborough was approved on Monday by the Board of Trustees as our new Provost. We wish him well and success in his new position. Dr. Scarborough has initiated a Provost Corner in the University News on-line where he discusses his plans for the next 90 days. The 7 minute clip also includes his first Faculty Star Award initiated by the Provost. A link is provided below.

The first Star Award was made to Kati Thompson Casado who teaches Spanish in the Dept. of Foreign Languages. Kati is a member of the Faculty Senate and also a member of the UT-AAUP Executive Board. Kati's beloved husband Carlos recently died after a three year fight with cancer. Kati cared for Carlos at home during the three years without missing classes. Although she could have taken paid leave, she taught her classes and fully performed her other UT duties and responsibilities while faithfully caring for Carlos.

The video also features Dr. Linda Marie Rouillard who teaches French. Linda is also a member of the UT-AAUP Executive Board and is the President-Elect of the Faculty Senate.

I have worked with Kati and Linda for a number of years and they are great ladies and a credit to UT and its faculty. The UT-AAUP is fortunate to have Kati and Linda as part of its leadership.
