The Provost Search & The Flawed Process

The Provost search continues. There will be closed interview sessions with 5 to 6 candidates during the summer. Members of the advisory search committee and 1 or 2 other interested stakeholders will be part of these interviews. There are NO plans or schedules for the candidates to meet with faculty or students.
This Provost search process raises questions:
- What kind of serious Provost candidate would agree to an interview process which excludes meetings with faculty and students?
- What kind of Provost candidate would participate in such a non-transparent process?
- What kind of Provost candidate would agree to come to a campus where there is a lack of truth, integrity, and transparency?
In a March 20th email, President Jacobs clearly articulated the mission of the Provost Search Advisory Committee : "The simplified charge to the committee is to advise me on my recommendation to the Board of Trustees regarding the filling of the position of Provost and Executive Vice President of Academic Affairs."
It is rumored that Scott Scarborough is interested in the position of Provost.
The following people are the listed members of the Provost Search Advisory Committee. Their emails are included should you wish to contact them for any information. Note that all faculty members in this list are also administrators. Matt Rubin is listed as a student, but he has recently been hired as a full-time financial analyst in Auxiliary Administration. Mr. Rubin received his undergraduate degree in political science in December 2011.
